One of the next items that we are going to invest in as a Club is AMBrc to replace our older AMB timing equipment and sometimes dodgy transponders.

At the moment, this is looking likely to be towards the end of the year provided no unexpected expenses come along.

When we move to AMBrc, then we will be able to use personal transponders, which are fitted in the car all the time, and owned by the driver. That way, once you are booked in the computer knows your transponder code and you just go out and race and your laps will all be counted.

We will still have one set of "handout" transponders for new members, visitors or those who simply don't want to invest in PT's, but it is envisaged that most regular racers will want ot move to a PT if they haven't already got one.

The downside is that PT's cost at least £55 each, with a bit of reduction if bought in quantities of 5 or upwards. One suggestion that has been made is to help club members by starting up a "savings club", where people can pay a small amount each week towards the cost of a PT, and this would also help the Club know how many to order - reducing the costs to the lowest possible.

I'm happy to run a savings club, and record the amounts people have paid, with the money being held in the Club Bank Account until needed - my question is do you think this is a good idea, or not - are there any problems you can foresee?

A very good idea, well done James.

As someone who has a PT I cant recommend highly enough the benifits. How many people have forgoten to put a transponder in (Rob / James) or taken the wrong one, or had to wait for the last race to return them. It also makes things a lot easier for the club (and me) since there is less hastle form people waiting for transponders.

MY PT was fitted to my car when I built it and hasnt been touched since. When I race at Bedworth or at other tracks there is no hastle getting transponders getting them back before marshalling etc.

The saving scheme like Colin says will make everything easier for all concerned, you wont have to shell out all the money at once. And as a club we will know how many to purchase.

Great idea!

Would love to run a PT, because I must be one of the worst for transponders :o

Just as long as we do get AMB, and not that tat they run down at DMS

I have done it yes! Tends to be after racing at Bedworth on the Wednesday, with PT's no having to worry about transponders, then on the Friday having to remember them again.

2 weeks running forgetting the transponder for the second leg!! - count me in, I don't think they can come quick enough :)

Interesting results last night - a few of us (well me at least!) better start watching our backs the way Jamie is going, well done that man.
