This Sunday is an open practice day so if your looking for that ultimate setup Sunday would be the day to come along.
Cost is £6 for all day or £3.50 for half day. Just think about how much track time you can get, not restricted to just Heats and finals.
Another thing. If you are planning not to turn up on the 12th but have an entry PLEASE LET ME KNOW I have people desparate to race who don't have a place.
Either PM me or e-mail me or give me a ring on 07714609581.
Thanks
Jon Guest STCC Central Booking.
Will the track be open on the Sat 11th for practice?

Yep the track is open on Saturday but it will cost you £6 for the day or £3.50 for 1/2 day. These fees are payable at the trackside shop. BEFORE YOU PRACTICE. ANYONE FAILING TO DO SO WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE IMMEDIATLY. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!

If you're a club member yes practice is free. Yes the track is open during the week 9.30am until about 5.00pm. But the fees are the same.
Please explain why you should not have to pay to practice, I'd be interested in your answer.

its just that I do not know of any other club that charges to practice.
spmcc

As I said club members can practice for free. Their fees go towards the maintenance of the track and the other facilities available. So as a visitor we ask you to contribute towards the above.

fair enough, thanks
I personally think if practice is allowed on the day before any big meeting such as STCC then it should be free as many attending the STCC will not be members and would have spent enough in travelling and B&B in attending to such an event. Else I 'm not surprised if they feel targeted.
Otherwise at least let it be free for those who ARE members or has a BOOKING for the STCC entry (the shop can have an entry list) for that one day. In that way it will be fairer to both mambers and non-members as far as practicing privileges is concerned.
I am not ignoring costs for track maintenance but if the club is already charging all year round for practice to cover track maintenance then maybe not charging for one day to known number of entrants may not have any serious effect to the club.
This is only my opinion and it only covers for big meetings like the STCC, and let's not ignore this is supposed to be a cost controlled event also.

The Snetterton circuit is a commercial venture and the people that paid for it are looking forward to getting their money back after a 100 years or so.
You should be grateful that they did the STCC a special price for the day or we wouldnt be racing there at all.
Please remember that if it wasnt for Jon (and Tris) sorting out all your entries none of you would have places anyway.

I'd hate to think that those of us who have "loaned" money for the construction of permanent tracks expect to make a loss.... surely it's in the interests of ALL clubs to have income > expenditure?

If it's supposed to be a cost controlled series then why practice the day before and have to run up all those B&B bills anyway? If you are willing to spend the overnight accomodation costs then why does a couple of quid to practice grate so much?
Besides, any club is run for the benefit of its members. So if you aren't a members then why should you get something for free that everyone else would have to pay for (and so do members as part of their membership fee goes towards paying for the right to practice). At least Snetterton let you practice if you're not a member, that is forbidden at MK...
Take no offence cos no body said we are not grateful Rob... so I dont know where that came from.
As to covering the costs, our club are also still paying off loans too, and I do understand the financing side of things. No one is expecting anyone to make a loss Dave, I mean really lets not exaggerate on what I have commented in the last post... ;)
If the track is open Saturday then there will people coming from far who will prefer to stay onvernight than going there twice in 2 days if they feel they need to learn the track a bit Tom. Some may not expect to pay for Saturday running... Sure it is not always the money but it is not what they are used to either.
You both at MK should understand this more that others guys, as your club very kindly offered to run a Saturday meeting the day before BTCC. You must agree some were happy to and some weren't so, and they weren't both wrong. It is a matter of what people are used to do on a Saturday before race meeting.
Anyway without turning this to another highly charged thread, I'd like to mention that Jon has kindly PM me with a good and to the point reply, cheers. :)
By the way...
Good luck to those who will be fighting for the tittle! It should be a good show!

I've been checking the weather forecast for the last few days and it looks like we may get a dry race meeting. Not so sure about Saturday though.
I will be sacrificing 2 of my pet goats on Friday nite (whoopee curry on the menu again) just to make sure it stays dry.
Word of advice to all drivers, although we do have covered pitting the space is limited so please don't all expect to be able to pit inside. If for any reason you think you maybe late or get held up on your way to the meeting I can be contacted race day on 07714609581.
See you all Sunday

Having vistied many "new" tracks (to me at least) this year and in an attempt to be competitve at some familiar ones ;) I've been at more Saturday practices this year than ever before. Darned right it costs serious money for the accomodation/food/racing consumables. Sue and I haven't added it all up this year (phew!) but I'll bet its big money.
Being a member at Snetterton makes sense as its my local practice track, and excellent VFM thanks Jon! We've been lucky that no other tracks have "charged" for Saturday practice - and if more did I suspect this charge wouldn't stand out as much. Personally I wouldn't object to a nominal practice fee for clubs to cover running costs. I'd hate to see all the wonderful new tracks go bust in years to come :o
A suggestion for the 2004 STCC rules would be to make reference to Saturday practice and a possible fee - even if some clubs give it to their favourite charity?
Good luck at Bedworth Remo ;)
I'm saying nothing about the weather Jon just in case :P
Cheers

More to the point, does anyone have a good overall ratio for a Fantom Silver 27t? :P
I'm looking forward as much to the title shootouts as to my quest to get back into the top ten. And it's nice to see Mr Baxter's real name on the pre-booked list, so long as it stays that way on the timesheets... :o
Does anyone know the postcode for Snetterton? I have looked on the website but can't seem to find it (that by no stretch of the imagination means its not there though ;D :o ::) :P )
It would be useful to allow me to plan a route.

To all who participated in todays meeting, thank you for making my life easy, no misplaced transponders, everyone on time for each heat and final and some great racing also. Its been a long slog since last January and most of you were just names on bits of paper or voices on the end of the phone. It was really nice to meet you face to face.
Congratulations to Steve Corrie, Modified Champion, Rob Baxter, Stock Champion, and to Southend the Club Champions. Hope you'll all be back to defend your titles next year.
One person I must mention is Rob Nelson who not only wrote but also "drove" the amazing STCC Series Software, without it believe me the series format would have been a dead duck. Also James Stewart who has diligently transfered everyones scores after each meeting into the database and kept everyone up to date with the scores. Mike Smith for supplying the wheels/ tyre sets at such a fantastic price. Barry Hughes and Rob Fitzgerald for actually coming up with the idea in the first place and all the clubs that have been involved in the series and anyone else I've forgotten. Roll on STCC 2004
Jon Guest Snetterton.
PS. I didnt really sacrifice my pet goats whose names happen to be Alice and Tiffany (honest) ;D

I had never been to Snetterton before and thought it was fantastic. Not only a good track but all the other stuff going on there as well, and what an exciting A final stock - now that was what you call close racing!

Well done guys (competitors and officials) , a great series. The support from the drivers was there right to the end. Inter Club racing is a great idea, well done Rob F for driving this one.
Good luck to all competitors next year. I know the Clubs are lining up for a round. You never know, the idea might just spread!

Thanks to all involved in the STCC, great race with Mr Burgess in the final less than a foot i think between us in the last final. Things looked pretty bad after round 1, being DQ because of under weight, broken hub and driveshart and having to make the last 2 runs count, not what you need in the last round of the championship. Thanks again

Thanks to all involved for Sunday - worth missing the Schumacher victory and championship win at the BRCA stock National ;D
Cheers to Jon for a virtually one man show on Sunday - if that's an easy layout Jon I'd hate to see the hard one ;)
And to Rob Nelson for effortless race control - and the "pep talk" before the finals ::)
Congrats to Rob B for the stock class win - well deserved mate. I'll have to settle for fastest lap, all 8 STCC finals in the top three, and another second overall!
Good luck with the rules and dates for 2004.
Cheers
Mark
Ps - forgot to mention DeanO made both modified A-finals on a very old set of tyres I'd lent him. Now that's a good control tyre!
