Is there any advantage/disadvantage to buying the RTR over the kit, apart from the obvious? :confused:
I have built a kit before, so building is not an issue, was just wondering about how the finished cars compare.

i believe but i may be wrong that the rtr is a racer spec.
built with all the electrics.
the electrics in the car arent the best to be honest but for racing down your local club it ok.
it depends how you are going to be racing it are you a club racer or a racer who goes to other championships.

i have a tc3 rtr its a good car for starting out with but i have changed nearly all of the electronics. if you have experience building kits then i would go for the kit and buy some decent electronics seperate.

To be honest, I am someone who is looking to make a start in Touring cars. My experience of any type of racing is nil. So I am looking for a car which if bought RTR is competative enough for a novice like me. I would have thought that as your experience and skill develops you would probably replace these things anyway.

the TC3 rtr and 'racer' specs are the same spec of kit.
the RTR is a great starter car, it will handle stock fine.
all i suggest is replace the kit motor with a 27x1 stock motor, the electronics are ok. i think this is a good car to start with and with a stock will be easy to get to grips with. also if you are racing at a club you can go in the 27t stock class where you wil be of similar speeds to the other cars, whereas with the kits 19t motor you will be very off pace with other guys racing in the 19t class

You'll probably want to go Spec racing, where they hand-out a controlled motor. Its normally a little bit more expensive, but it saves the hassle of getting a good motor.

So, if it's not a silly question, whats the difference between "spec" and "stock" ?
The club I am thinking of racing at do spec and modified.
Spec is a 19 turn fixed timing motor, whereas stock is a 27 turn fixed timing motor
PS if its the club I am thinking of in Leeds area I suggest you go spec, as the mods are very few, so few that there were not enough for a race on Sat

If it's Garforth, then you're right. Went down and had a look on Sat myself. For a complete novice like me, I couldn't tell anyway!
Was just hoping to buy a TC3 RTR and take it from there. From the outside looking in it looks a bit complicated, but I'm sure it's not once you get the hang of it.
