2x11 Reedy PT Problems

I had run my PT in my RC10B4 for 15 races with no problem. I had it skimmed last week and fitted new brushes. Today I was racing on grass, 21T on an 81 spur. Sanyo 2400 Cells. - the performance was awful. By the end of the meeting the car stopped (during the final) and the brushes were totally worn out. The com is badly burnt up.

I am not even sure if it can be skimmed - might be too bad.

Any ideas what caused this?

hi maybe you were overgeared and the length of the grass causing exsessive drag. these type of motors ti,kr and pt will prob only do 5 runs max on a set of brushes. were you running the correct reedy actron brushes?
in 2wd the car needs less power so i would reduce the timing a bit to reduce arcing.
in my b4 i run peak vantage 10x2 at 81/20 so the motor revs out and is still ballistic.

Neil, I would guess that your gearing is about right unless the track is very short or has very long grass.

Would it be right to guess that you had someone else skim it and fit new brushes?? If so my guess would be that the brushes fitted were not as cuitable as those that were in it origionally. However i would say that the 15 runs you did origionally was longer than would be ideal.

I would be very surprised if it was not possible to skim it now. I have skimmed some very bad motors for people at my club. Sure you have probably shortened it's life, but i doubt if you have killed it yet!
