I know it may sound a bit stupid, but what diameter tyres are you running? I assume you are running foams on carpet, I run TRC 26mm wide blues with a 52mm diameter and around 0.6mm of foam on the tyres. I do not recommend trueing your tyres down to this because they will last around 4 races but the car will be unbeatable, gear it 24/88 and you will win, trust me! :)
Hint:- wait till people get rid of their old foams and use them, they will have hardly any foam on the tyre and that is when foams are at their best! Ask Kev Suggit how well it works! Mine got TQ and a win in stock last fortnight and last week I got TQ but the tyres finally gave up in the final and went through to the rim! I was around 1/2 a second a lap quicker than anyone else using that tyre setup, trust me, it works!

Thanks Guys
i'm not sure on the diameter Liam
they are 26mm jaco blues.
i decided to go for the 23 pinion and will use an 88 spur.
i have a few other pinions lying around but i suppose that should set me on my way
thanks Mike

It really depends on how tight you call tight...
At Grays (which can be a tight track) i run somewhere between 21 - 23 on an 88. I use smallish diameter foams.
