Does any body have a good set up for carpet running foams?
Also what gearing would you start with for a small track (of about 9 secs) direct drive in stock. On such a small track the smallest pinion with the standard spur would be best, correct? Is the smallest pinion a 16? will this give enough punch?
Thanks for your help
Chris
Andy Cook of Australia set up a site for many assassin's setups ==> http://www.cookieitsallgood.com/components/setups/assassin_setups_index.shtml

You won't get the right gearing for a small track using the direct drive.
I use Enneti Foams - 42 fronts and 35 rears with LRP additive.
2 degrees camber and toe in on the rear
1 degrees camber and toe in on the front
40wt oil with kit pistons and springs
That's a good starting point for carpet/foams.
I think more Assassin setups need posting here or putting up on the Corally site. So far, for UK tracks, I have only found one setup sheet. Set-up help online is non existent, trackside (unless you race near Andy Griffiths or Andy Sawyer) help is non existent too. Compared to other cars, getting set-up info is not easy. I feel that since many of us have parted with a lot of money for the kit we deserve a little help with setups and building tips. If you buy a Ferrari (not that I have), you get incredible back up with servicing, etc. We have bought the r/c equivalent of that, yet help is not there when we need it. When I go to do the Northern touring car championship this summer, I will be lucky if I see ONE Assassin. Same for the BRCA Juniors.
Just my opinion - and many other peoples too I suspect.

You might just see a few more than that Liam, there is quite a family of them in the northern areas!
As far as setups are concerned, start at kit and go from there, why is it that so many drivers seem to think that there is a magic setup for any car for a track. I can guarantee that my setup for a car will probably not suit you! I have to cater for a very aggressive driver who expects that car to take whatever inputs he makes.......as you can imagine this is very challenging for me! The point is, you really need to spend YOUR time learning all about YOUR car, what reactions a change makes and then over time you will develop your own setups that work for you!
This business of expecting to use someone else's setup and the car will work is not wholly realistic.
The key, no matter what the car type or make, is to spend time learning about it, spend time practising, spend time experimenting and developing setup styles that work for you, and not expect someone else to provide a "silver" solution! It is far more satisfying as you now understand YOUR car much more than the "monkey see, monkey do" approach will ever give you.
I am quite willing to assist with setup hints when ever asked, but since I don't believe in the "silver" setups, I will not post them! A word of advice, make sure you know exactly how your car is currently setup before asking me..........for obvious reasons.
I would also add that when it comes to setups, why do you think that a top drivers setup is the best, you seem to not to appreciate that this calibre of driver can and often does, drive around a setup that is not absolutely perfect, and still do better than your average driver who will need a car that is far more dialled.
Nothing personal, just some thoughts for you to consider.
