I'm after a little advice, i did some 1/12 racing quite a few years ago, using 1700 batteries, i'm thinking of having another go over this winter, mainly club racing, and if it goes alright a couple of the closer nationals, but seems things have changed a little over the years.
looks like my options are 6 cell with 27t stock motor or 4 cell modified, just wondering what the pros and cons are for each.
from the few people i've spoken too, 4 cell seems the better option, slightly light car making it more nimble, but 6 cell means if i decide too also do a bit of electric touring car i can use the same batteries.
i guess what i really want to know is am i going to be able too ceep up with the 4 cell racers.

thanks

4 cell mod is definitely the most popular; you only get a handful of 6 cell stock at the nationals. 4 cell is generally faster because the car is lighter, so it handles better, and the tyres don't wear as much! Motor maintenance is also less of an issue, as you're running a mod on only 4 cells! 6 cell is a good option if you already do touring cars, and want to have a go at 1/12th, because you can use the same cells for both classes. Running 6 cells also makes gearing the car less of an issue, because as long as you've got at least decent 2400's, then you'll never dump! However, if you really want to get into your 1/12th racing, and have the best car possible, I would go for 4 cell mod to get the most from this class.

If you do 19T in touring, and you're interested in the 1/12th nationals, then you might want to consider the new 4 cell 19T class that has been introduced. This class will have its own national series, with the meetings beeing on the saturday, with 4 cell mod/6 cell stock on the sunday. I think this new class provides a great introduction to 1/12th scale racing, because you don't have as much power to contend with straight away!
