Perhaps someone can help. I run a (first time) yokomo yrx12 RC12l3...its the masami version of the associated RC12l3. I cant get the thing to track straight. I have Mediam/Hard tyres on the back and front, I know if the rears are too soft they drive the car...but I dont think thats the case here.

I have tried several different servo's, there is not interference from the motor, I rev up and watch the wheels, they stay still. I have tried toe in toe out and zero....still have a problem.

I have set the tweak...so I dont thing thats it. and checked the spacing on the rear axle...

Is there something Im missing??

Ensure the tyres on either side are the same size. If one is bigger, then the car will pull to the side under acceleration. Check the tweak again, and also make sure all shimming/spacing is the same on both sides. You have to be smooth on the throttle. Nailing it won't do you any favours! Also put a mark in the middle of the car on the rear, and measure the distance to the outer edges of the wheels. Shim the axle to get it equal on both sides.

The tyre size thing does make sense, this I will go and check. I had the rear spacing pretty close...but I think the axle may have been floating too much...

as for that throttle thingy...mmmm easier said than done.

thanks

Try to create some slop in the steering, give the ball joints a squeeze whilst they are assembled, this will cause the plastic to stretch over the metal.

Agree with Mark, sounds to me like you have some stiffness in the steering linkage somewhere.

Remove all the links. Remove the springs. Each steering block should be so free, it almost falls under its own weight as you move the car around. Refit the springs. There should be a little resistance to moving the blocks. Fit one ball to its joint at a time - the link should move under its own weight. When all the links are assembled, give the two on the servo saver a little squeeze with some pliers across the ball (gently now!!) to create a little play. HTH

I find what your saying about the play quite interesting, one thing I did notice is that on the ball joints on the servo saver there are O rings, I assumed that this was to reduce play.

time to go and rebuild the fron suspension methinks.

any advice on which front blocks to use? the car currently has the default ones the manual suggests...I run on large open asphalt tracks...

Maybe the O Rings are pushing the plastic joints too tightly onto the balls - take 'em out and see what happens.

For a set up, use the 12L3 set up sheets on teh CML or Associated web sites - they will be pretty close - HTH :)

Thanks for all the help.

I spent the weekend rebuilding and testing the front end, one thing I did find, mentioned earlier to me was that my front tyres were different sizes "duh" its amazing what you overlook when racing....spose thats the difference between the pros and the not so pros..

thanks agian...whatch for my next posting titled "How wrong can you get it..."
