View Full Version : Proposal for 3 Qualifying + 2 Finals

This year, the BRCA are running their rounds to a new format.

They are running 3 rounds of Fastest Time Qualifying (same as usual) and 2 Finals for everyone (points for position in each final, both finals counting).

The idea is that this would give us less qualifying, but more importantly, more racing. It also means that both finals are important, not just 1 "do-or-die" final and not having sometimes pointless 3rd finals, when the places are settled.

It also places importance on preparation, as much as having the best gear - so you have to make sure you finish both finals well, to have a chance of winning.

It's a major change, and the news came out just after our AGM in November, too late to put a vote on it there.

Therefore, we'd like to put the question out there, and see if people want to run the new system. If it's being done by the BRCA at National and Regional level, it only seems right that it's adopted by clubs too, especially BRCA affiliated clubs.

If we get a positive response to this forum post, we might be able to ask for a vote on the morning of April 11th, and see if we can try it for one meeting, to see if it's better or not.

So give this suggestion a positive response, and we can see if this system is better. We think it may be very popular with everyone at s.d.r.c.c, as it's the best compromise between having only 1 final, and the old 3 finals system.
