does anybody know if it will be possible to upgrade a XXX KE into a BK2? It certainly looks as though the changes are only parts, as opposed to new chassis designs . . . ???

You will need a complete transmission, wishbones and hub carriers, and possibly some other parts as well.
Sounds pretty expensive! :o

Dom is right, pretty much the only thing that stays standard is the chassis.
they might do an upgrade but we all got quite a big bad of bits at the worlds.
wishbones - front and rear
hub cariers - front and rear
full gearbox - diff, idler, layshaft, gear plate, gear cover, motor guard, outdrives etc...
driveshafts
rear wishbone hangers.
and lets not forget that the BK2 is a complete competition kit, so in the kit you get threaded shocks and cool alu collars
Ti nitrade kingpins etc...
things that are the same
chassis
shock towers - front and rear
front bulk head
steering
...
wheels ::)

not as simple as first appeared then. But the next question has to be how much does it improve the handling of the car? I have only recently purchased a xxx ke, as i cannot seem to get on with my B4, and having driven my sons xxx I actually prefered it to my B4. I bet i am the only person to ever say that! :o
So obviously, I don't want to spend £270 on a new buggy, if I can upgrade for a fraction of the cost . . .

its hard to tell, the only time I have raced it so far has been on a track that I have never raced before. and not to mention the track changed more than you could change your car with regard to grip ::)
other than 'improvements' like new gearbox and stuff then the only thing different with regard to setup are the wishbone lenghts. they have 2 holes, the standard xxx Ke holes would be right in between the 2 new holes. and there are 3 shock mounts on the rear wishbones, not sure of the differances to the old ones on that.
its a tough one to call, I can see there being problems when trying to use peoples setups they work well on their BK2 but may not work so good on your KE.
if there is a remote possibility that you get one, then go for it, in the grand scheme of things the amount you spend on petrol and entry fee's just to go with a car that not so many people will have might be worth the initial lay out.

yes, I see what you mean, but it's like another £300 by the time you have a few spares, so I think for the time being at least, I will just stay with what I have (which is basically two very good cars, isn't it) and see which one I get along with better!
Thanks for the info though.

indeed, see how things pan out...
it may even end up that an option with the new car is to run the old wishbones and hub carriers to get that in between hole on either the front or rear. that would reduce the cost of a piece by piece upgrade.
who knows for sure
see what happens over the winter

that is what I think I will do - you never know, I might be able to get on with my B4 by the time the upgrades are available!
