I have just installed the grey belts in my mission in an attempt to gain more top speed from my 27t stock motor but i have found that the belts are very tight and there appears to be more drag and friction when compared to the standard belts. I havn't run the car yet but i am hoping that the belts will loosen off quicky because if not then i will actually be slower ???
I am thinking of removing the tensioner pully to try and make the front belt looser, has anyone tried this?
Sorry if this has already been covered.

I just installed mine this morning, and they are very free! Maybe you got a dodgy set?

yup, grey belts are more flexible so shouldn't be tighter than the std ones.

The grey belts are a significant advantage in stock and 19-turn racing, so stick with them. The grey backing of the belt is much softer than the black standard belt, meaing the belt can stretch more.
Run the car and see how tight they are then - you should find an initial stretch will cure it. Imagine if it was loose to start with then got even looser - belt slip!
I have tried taking the belt tensioner off for a really tight belt - then found one of the wheel ballraces was seized solid. The car will run, although the belt flops around a bit. If you absolultely have to try filing the slot the belt tensioner holding srew goes through - on the motor mount. A round file and a few minutes will help drop the belt tensioning ball races through the bottom chassis slot.

I have never had that problem with grey belts, I was told to stretch them before putting them on the car so thats what i done and the car was very smooth and free.
i got two new missions for christmas and they both come with the grey belt the black is no longer available,
is this correct or are they just out of stock

I believe the black long belt has been discontinued, there is no need for it as we always use the grey one.

Hadn't heard that Matt - I know a club where the black belt is almost a must. High grip astroturf with yellow mins - tend to rip the rear grey belt apart, and we run WD40 soaked black belts.
Mind you they'll last for ages, and we have the Mi2 coming...
