View Full Version : Warpspeed Mission kit
Has any one used this at all?? I will be upgrading my s1 chassis and top deck to carbon fibre, and I wondered what people thought of the warpspeed stuff........
i have heard people talk about it but ive never seen one. Does any one know a website with a photo of the car on it? I cant seem to find it. >:(
Try the website of Microtech Racing (there is a link on the BRCA site)
*delete if inappropriate*
I got the link off of some one else. But thanks anyway.
it looks good but now i have thought about it i would only realy want to buy the top deck but i dont think they just sell that part on its own.

Why not use part No U2488 Stiff Top Deck?

Because the warp speed chassis changes the weight distribution by moving the cells and the motor plate out so the holes are in different places to the standard one.

I know of one person who's used it this year - and he thinks the extra weight over the front helps with turn-in.
Personally I think the results at National and BTCC meetings with the kit chassis and kit/stiff top decks prove there ain't much wrong with them.

yeah thats a very good point, anyway for the same price I can get a second hand carbon fibre complete chassis, so thats probably a better option.

Aaaaaahh, but Mark only wanted the Top Deck so the U2488 is the best option to stiffen things up.
Unless he buys both top deck & chassis the Warpspeed top deck will need re drilling to fit

In fairness the Warpspeed chassis and top deck have holes for both std and shifted motor mount positions. That said if you are just looking for a stiffer car then the carpet top deck is fine.
ive recently bought a warpspeed chassis from microtech, not realy had much chance to try it yet thogh,
SUPER STIFF !!!

;D ;D ;D
pictures give pictures of the chassis!!!! ;D
Thanks for all your advice but I just brought a second hand mission with loads of spares and this weekend I have taken them all apart and made 1 realy good mission with 2 top decks to make it stiffer and im still working on the other mission as a back-up car (i need it the way i drive).

Maybe if you ran one top deck it would be more forgiving ;D, and not need the spare ???
The top decks do seem to be a handy tuning option, s1 for polished floors, just seems more forgiving standard carbon, most of the time, and, ultra stiff for the higher grip carpet, and tarmac (dry day)

Mark,
Chris Kerswell winner of the Stock National at Barham runs with two chassis & two top decks, his car is ultra rigid.
However, Chris does say he prefers it this way because any minute adjustment in the suspension/setup really can be felt in the way the car handles.
Funnily enough with the new Yokomo a lot of drivers are removing or loosening the stiffening plate along the centre of the chassis to induce a bit of chassis flex to help gain grip and settle the car.
you want pictures hang on they will be posted shortly.
cheers al
atchually there is a link on the microtech racing website !!!

Barry's right - the "stiff" and "kit" top desks are a useful tuning aid and we've used each at different tracks this year.
As a basic rule of thumb the "stiff" top deck works well on smooth and high grip tracks, and the "kit" version works better on bumpier and lower grip tracks. I'd have to re-check my set up sheets to see what Jason and I used at each track.
On that basis a "super-stiff" two layer top deck would suit a very high speed and high grip circuit - say Snetterton on a hot day ;)

I used it at southend yesturday...it handled very well but shame about the car kept breaking :'(

Personally i have used a stiff top deck at Halifax and Tibshelf this year with a std carbon one used everywhere else.

Hi all, this is my first post. I live in Melbourne Australia.
I've recently returned to the racing scene (after 15yrs) with a Mission S1 and love it. Whilst my Wife was over in the UK recently I took the opportunity to get a new S1 (for spares) and a Warpspeed chassis (to frighten the opposition) from Microtech racing. As an aside, I want to give a big endorsement to Kevin at Microtech for looking after the order (and me) so well. Thanks Kev.
A few questions/comments.
There's an outboard mounting point on the forward side of the chassis, battery side that's not on the Schumacher chassis. What's that for?
Is there a preferred mounting solution for transponders? Are there special mounts you can buy that fit the Mission?
Also, I saw in another forum somewhere (can't remember) a fantastic link to prepare and protect Carbon Fibre chassis. Should be very helpful considering the cost of the WS!! It's:
http://www.teamcrc.com/team_crc_raceway/chassis.htm
I hope this helps!
I look forward to chatting! ;)

Well Hi!
Haven't seen the Warpspeed chassis so I'm the wrong guy to ask - and cann't think of anything obvious in that section of the chassis.
As for transponder mounts many of the larger meets in the UK insist on transponders being mounted in the front winderscreen for safety. Hence all my shells have a hole just there, and weve never discussed a mount inside the car or on the chassis.
There used to be a small mount that came with the Axis 2 kit - which might still fit the Mission. If you're interested I may have a part number...
Good tips on chassis sealing - been using CA for sometime, and the Mission chassis edges seem smooth enough to avoid the need for further sanding before this. And it is worth sanding the cell slots, but not too much otherwise the cells will stick out below the chassis...!

Thanks Mark,
I'd love to have that part number.

Mark that transponder mount won't fit as I think it is designed for use with the old long machine screws that held the bulkheads down.
Putting the transponder in the windscreen is an easy solution ;)
Warpspeed chassis is very pretty... the one i got from Microtech is the latest design( so he said )
The motor mount is in the same position but the servo can me mounted in 3 different positions, usefull for chassis tuning i suppose.
The main difference is that it thicker, and the battery slots are 5 mill further forward...
ill be trying it this weekend so ill post how it goes
AWESOME is all i can say...
Makes any changes to the car instantly noticeable... big thumbs up
Sounds good, there could be a disadvantage to that tho, With the "standard" chassis you can get away with not setting the car up for a little while if you havent got the time to do it, with the warpspeed chassis it seems like you will need to set your car up at least once a week depending on how many times you race a week because a slight thing out of place would make the car handle different, but i supose that it has its advantages and disadvantages. That is just a disadvantage. still sounds good ;D
