Well, we tried it at the Swindon club last night.
For those that don't know there are only 3 of us (feel free to come along ;D), and it didn't give the expected results.

I ran Orion, Paul had TC2 and Gary ran LRP (thought we would cover all bases) on a carpet that has only had smelly stuff (TC1 & TC3) on it before.

Right from the off the grip was good, it normally takes a round or two to come up, but we have never had that much grip in the first round before.

Not only that but the cars held their grip for the whole 8 mins - or 10mins for those running 3300's.

I was expecting some grip problems.
How is everyone else running odourless finding it?

How does the odourless addative affect the grip for other non addative racers?

Hi Keith

I ran it for the first time at Crewe last week, also grip was pretty good from the off, though it did improve as the night wore on. Had interesting results with the tyres though, as did my normal thing of running one set all night, found they didn't go squidgy like they would have with TC3.

What Keith didnt mention was tyre wear. I used one set of tyres for three runs and the rears only lost 0.2 mm dia.!!!! And they didnt go squidgy, did almost start to grip roll towards the end of the third run but only if I went really hard into a corner.
Had heard various things about odourless and was pleasantly surprised by the performance.

Just got to get it to work with my new steed now!!!

Roll on Macc!

Hi All

Important Note

Attached is the exact wording of the 3 types of addatives allowed at Nationals this season (so far no others submitted)

You will notice that the wording of their descriptions has changed slightly, as the suppliers have updated their packaging and I want to ensure nobody is confused about the ones that are ok.

Anybody has any questions please ask or P.M.

Thanks

Jim

Corally TC2 (Jack the gripper) Silver can - pink writing
LRP Top Traction (Blue Factor) White can - blue writing
Orion Street Juice (TC Traction F1) clear bottle - purple writing

Jim, although you stated very clearly which Orion additive to use, I just want to clafify it is the Street Juice - and not the Foam Juice which is allowed.

The Foam Juice doesn't smell to me, and with it supposedly being developed for foam tyres, I thought this would be the one used for 12th. ???

Hiya, we seem to have a range of new additives out for this season. I would like to know if will all work at the same time on the day. i have tried two types on the same night useing a fresh set of new tyres per run. then run one additive one week then swopped the next . keeping the tyres in sets so not to mix up the additive. On the same track in the same hall & not changing anything on the the car. TC2 jack the gripper wins hands down. they was less tyre wear by 0.74mm & the car stayed the same round by round.Of course there will be more grip at the nats.I was three laps faster than the old smelly stuff. & one lap faster than orion juice. My car was also unchanged from the last season.Hope this helps.

Hi, why are we being supplied with the Orion additive. when TC2 is known by most racers by now. tried & tested anyway. Just a thought . Al

Hi

Because Orion were kind enough to offer us 100 bottles F.O.C. as they think its a great move for the future of 1/12th.

Corally were also keen to help, however Orion had already offered and neither seemed keen to share the spotlight.

As I said in an earlier post we would like to thank all of the current suppliers of odourless as they have all been very helpful over the past few months.

And as has been stated several times the 3 types are quite compatable.

Some interesting points there guys.

However, what tires were you using the additives on? Do all additives work as well on all types of tire, or are some additives specific to certain compounds. I know that the two main choices of tire are Corally Gold/Silver and the Purple/Grey combo so what works best with each?

At my club the done thing is Silver/Gold and TQ Orange additive. Now, I know that is not exactly odorless, but is does have quite a nice pong. Just to mix things up I usually go for the purple/grey combo, as they last longer, and still use the TQ. What additives do you recomend for these tires?

Hi

Well to my knowledge there's next to no difference between those two types of tyre, and its not so much what we recommend as odourless is odourless is odourless so pick your brand and have a bash.

At the euro's we just changed from one to the other on our normal tyres.

Jim

p.s. I have PM'd you re re citrus addatives

I went to Teeside last week-end just to watch,
i noticed the track was very dirty & looked like the club is still using TC1 type addertive,
the track looked like it was couved with oil type addertive, yet i didn't see or hear any 12th drivers moaning about any loss if grip-with there new addertive.

steven

at teeside there are only a few drivers who are not useing odourless add,if fact a lot of people use no add at all on touring cars.
on sunday all drivers were using one of the new add, those tc drivers that did not have any I loaned them some so all drivers were on the same.

I was just trying to point out that grip is not an issue, even if its mixed on a carpet thats been using TC1 in the past, which i think is a good sighn. As i wasn't sure how the two would re-act with each other
