Hi Guys

I have just built the TA04-SS chassis. I would like to upgrade the standard gearing (90 spur, 25 pinion) to get a better performance. Everybody has a better top speed than me.

I have been to the Tamiya web site and I am unable to make sense of the parts.

50873 | SP873 | TA04 Spur(04;112T,120T, 128T)
50893 | SP893 | TA04 Spur Gear (06 MDL :83t)
53407 | OP407 | 0.4 Pinion Gear (38T, 39T)

etc

That standard pinion has 90 teeth but is labeled 83T ??? :(

Can somebody please explain the labelling and perhaps recommend a set of gearing?

I am using the car for indoor carpet racing, if that helps any...

Cheers

Hi Guys

Forgot to mention that I am running the standard silver can 540 motor. Local club runs a class based on this motor for beginners like myself.

those tamiya parts:
#50873 is a set of 3, 04module spur gears (112, 120, and 128teeth
#50893 is an 83 tooth 06module spur gear
#53407 is a set of 2, 04 module pinions(39 and 39 tooth)

if you dont already know you can only mesh 04module spurs with 04module pinions, and the same alpplies to th 06module gears.

as far as selecting gearing try running what someone with the same car (any ta04) and motor is running. If your still not as fast check that your transmission is running free, and not killing your speed.
