I have just installed some new brushes ready for tomorows 1/12th meeting, except the solder has crawled its way up the shunt, would this have a dramatic effect??
And if so, how do i get the solder out of the shunt?? :-[

Martin,
there is no way to get the solder out, but if it's not stopping you fitting the brushes in the hoods, don't worry about it, next time be a little quicker with the soldering iron.

why cant you heat the brush shunt up with a small tipped soldering iron, and then hold the endbell so the solder can run out of the shunt, the way it came in? OK, it won't get rid of all the solder completely, but it will remove enough so that it is not a problem.
Don't ask me how I know this. ::)

if you hold the shunt with a pair of needle nose pliers whilst fitting it, this stops any solder creeping up the shunt ;)
