Happy New Year Leyton,
I was thinking of 17.5 blinky and my Mardave:)
I can't be asked with totf as i don't understand what i need to change for different motors.

Niall won't be able to make the first meeting of 2012. We haven't bought a new 21.5T motor yet as there was a suggestion that the club may be getting a job lot. If this isn't happening can someone recommend a decent budget motor? Model Junction are thinking about similar rules with a maximum price of £40 for the motor.
Have a good new year!

hello Alan happy new year to you Niall and family

I like what model junction is trying to do. but the speed passion motor is the only motor you can get for that price really and as its a budget motor my only concern is will it last very long as we all no you get what you pay for in this hobby and maybe a more top end motor may be the better investment . if your looking for a good cheap motor the hobby wings motors are ok and defiantly better than the speed passion in my opinion.

I was talking to john about setting the people that don't have the 21.5 right away to a final drive ratio of 8.5 in blinky mode so you cant use the toque or the top end of the motors im sure this will be ok to start with what do others think?

Niallynoo
01-01-2012, 03:21 PM
Thanks Leyton for the advice. Which motor would you recommend to go with the SPX speed controller that we bought from you?
As we can't make the first race we should have plenty of time to order something from Hong Kong!

Should be ok, Boost.
Just turn the timing down on your speed controller, etc.
James and I still haven't received our 17.5t yet either.

happy new year boost

if you still only have a 13.5 set it to blinky and the set your final drive ratio to 8 - 8.5 then you wont be far out see you there

I mentioned in an earlier post that we could get very few Sunday mornings at Milton in the first 3 months of the year. We are racing this Sunday morning, 8th as normal. I have some Saturday afternoon dates to add. We can get access to the Hall after Tumble Tots (!) at 14:00, we should be able to set up by 14:30, start racing at 15:00 - 17:30 and clear up to depart at 18:00. I'll book Saturday 14th Jan for these times and we'll see how people like it. Unfortunately, we can't have Saturday 21 or Sunday 22 Jan, so no racing that weekend.

i normally run 8.5t, boost/turbo on, 3.7lipo in my dave, but am going to try 10.5 and 13.5 blinky single cell. over at hrcc we have a mixture of 2cell 13t non sensored, single cell 13.5/10.5 with and without turbo, and down to 8.5 turbo and 2 cell, and to be honest the lap times are very very similar! looking forward to tomorrow :)

Today's race results are now on the http://www.crcccc.org.uk web site. Good turn out of Touring and Mardaves and some close and exciting racing in both classes. Also good to see some new faces - hope you enjoyed yourselves!

Interesting to see alternative motice power - Touring had one very close heat with good old 27T BR, 17.5 blinky and 21.5 open racing very close together. In Mardave, Graham 1S 13.5 and James 2S 21.5 were very evenly matched and had some good races all day.

Remember - next race is next SATURDAY AFTERNOON (14th) doors open at 14:00, will be gone by 18:00

Many many thanks for today guys, i really enjoyed it. you guys have it spot on, a really slick run meeting, with lots of fun and laughing. lots of set up tips from jimbojames (thanks mate) and a race director who races, does race control and helps every one out (and makes it look easy!)

I'll echo Al's comments. Was a good meeting - great to see the Mardave class growing so quickly at the club and the touring class more closely matched for speed.

I've put some photos from Sunday on flickr. Apologies for the poor quality of some of them! The camera I have can't do fast shutter speeds in the gloomy hall lights without introducing a load of noise or creating very dark images.

Hi all i like the pics you took Ralph especially still pic of my car body rolling and that corner I didn't know it rolled that much LOL.

i think the meeting was a overall success as the racing was closer between the 17.5 and Ralph car so everyone is much closer and i like this sort of racing any way it shows that you need consistent driving to be in a chance of a good spot overall. It's makes you think about also the gearing of the car to be any-ware near a good speed down the straight but yeah i think this rule is successful in a way as we are equal down the straight and really it like mardave were you have to be quick through the corners instead of relying on speed down the straight.

Great day was had from me too, I will run with 17.5 blinky next time, as I found it hard to find the sweet spot on such a small track with 21.5 with otf timing. also would be nice if we had a little bit long between races, but you do show how to put on a good race meeting.

HI Malc,
The club decided on using only 21.5t boosted and 17.5t non-boosted, but using 13.5t at FDR of 8.5.
Hope this helps, and see you soon.

Hmmmmm... If you read that wrong it sounds bad. I hope you're just talking about snow? Lol!

I've just been out for an hour or so driving around Bury. Aside from getting stuck for a bit in my own drive way(!) the actual roads are quite good. Roads around town are ok if you go slow and gently, the A14 is clear in the slow lane and a bit slushy in the fast lane.

I guess it really depends what the local roads around Milton are like - those last couple of hundred yards are always the fun bit in weather like this.

Let us know, Jonh but there is no reason why those of us from Bure can't get there.

Dan - bit of a hike for you, but Bury (Risby) on Monday nights. See West Suffolk MCC club posting at the bottom of the list here.

BTW, Linda at the community centre says the car park there is untreated with deep drifts, so I think we would have failed at the last hurdle this morning!
