Hi all,
I am considering doing the rear shock tower on the front of my TC3 mod... Can anyone tell me if its a straight like for like swap, or are there any other mods that need doing? Are there any restrictions with this mod?
???
Cheers chaps!

I've recently done this mod, and I have to say that the car is a lot better, especially on tight twisty tracks (much more turn in it seems). The only thing it really requires is the front arms with 2 holes in them, as if you want to run with a ride height below 5mm you have to run it in the outer hole. Also I suggest you try it with a solid front axle, as this seems to work very well.

Cool thanks, if you run the shocks in the outer hole are there any clearance problems with the front hubs/carriers?

its a good modification to make as it even's out the car's balance very well and i have found, improves the handling quite a large amount
but that is for a tight indoor track
not sure about large tracks

NO.
Er, possibly. If you simply change the tower, there is every chance that the shock will catch on the C hub and the eyelet rub on the wheel at full turn in. You also won't get sufficient shock travel to set ride height correctly.
The neat solution is to:
- use the 2 degree caster block
- remove 2mm from the length of the shock eyelet
- smooth off the side of the eyelet closest to the wheel (or set your tranny to less than 100% steering)
An alternative to the 2 degree caster block is to use a 2mm "spacer" at the top and bottom mounting points of the shock so it no longer catches on the C hub.
Hope that helps.

Excellent, thanks Colin.
There were clearance problems when it was modded.
Overall a good mod! Thanks all.

I have just finished the mod to my TC3, and I was wondering if I will have to change my set up because of it?
Cheers

The reason for doing the mod is so similar springs can be ran front and rear. Id suggest just 1 spring difference eg. blue fornt silver rear or you could even run the same all round.

Which holes should be used? Just mirror the rear?

I usually run middle hole on the tower, outer hole on the new wishbones.

Hi,
I find using the inner holes on the front and rear shock towers makes the car easier to drive and more predictable. i also use the outer holes on the wish bones. I find blue springs all round with a 40 WT shock oil works best.
hope that helps
