Hello

I’m, a contributor for Radio Race Car International
As you may well be aware sadly Dez Chand passed away in a road traffic accident recently.
In a future edition of Radio Race Car International magazine we will be paying tribute to Dez and I have been asked to compile a list of Quotes, images, memories etc from close friends and racers to sum Dez’s life and love of the hobby.
We would like to keep away from condolences, we want to know how you remember him and the things that he said and did that made you smile.
Please send a short reply to mark.christopher”at”btinternet.com with subject “Dez Chand Tribute” with your full name. And we will try to publish it if felt suitable.
If you could please reply to me within 7 days
I hope you can help me with this

Thanks

Mark Christopher

Maybe not one for the mag but relevant here...

Dale: "What tyres are you running on your Corally F1?"
Dez: "Goldstars and silverstars"
Dale: "Silvers front or rear?"
Dez: "Silvers rear. Unless your name is Mark Christopher, in which case it's silvers on the left and golds on the right..."

Bizzare the stuff you remember from 15 years ago!

I think Dale's story is top of the list. It illustrates, in microcosm, the essence of what made Dez such a gem in the RC firmament. It was his ability to make you laugh about anything whilst at the same time making his point so crystal clear. He had a sharp wit, and used it to make everyone laugh even when his point was slightly, erm... pointed. He just got on with what he believed to be best for RC, and had a knack of making these sort of quick quips which made the point, and made it hard for you to disagree. He must of been the best Dad in the world...
