Does anyone know of compatible receivers for a Futaba 3GR 2.4G SS
I know the Futaba R603FF which is very expensive...
but what others ?

I'm told that the Frsky TRF4 works with it and the 3VCS with module.
Will order one for myself but havent done so yet.

Fond the blog Chris, very interesting and a good read. Have now got one of said receivers, just tried it and seems to work fine. All in all impressed! Will use it this weekend for a touring car race instead of the futaba one just to give it a good try with other 2.4 signals kicking around and if it is fine will be ordering another 2 or 3 for the other models!
Quite a happy bunny now that I never forked out all the dosh for the futaba ones!

Mine arrived this morning from BIG FISH and i have bound it with my 3VCS and faast module and my 3GR seems to work fine.
Will get a track test sunday as its going in my Carisma F14 EVO F1 car.

Just an update, I have 3 of these in different cars now, all worked fine. Went to put a 4th into my Mardave and could not get it to bind at all. I thought it might be something to do with voltage so plugged in a 6 cell pack rather than 4 cell but no difference. I then connected it to a different speed controller and it bound fine, connected it to the original speed controller and it works fine now.
Not sure what is so special about this one speed controller (it is my only brushed one granted) which would prevent the radio gear from binding but once bound it works fine.
So if you cant get it to bind, use a reciever battery pack or a different speedo to do the initial bind before returning!
I have one fitted to a 12th car and it works fine. I understand that the two aerials are to be positioned so one is horizontal and one vertical. I have one aerial on the rollover mast and one taped to the chassis. No problems binding it, and it responds just the same as my Futaba 603. HTH :)

Echoing Pete's comments, ran an frsky receiver on the weekend and had only had 1 issue... needed to add weight to the car ! (but had plenty of space to do so)

Is the frsky receiver significantly smaller than the futaba 603 range then??

Yes, smaller in every dimension
