Hi all

I have an black carbon sd and as you all will know the wishbones are plastic, now having broken two wishbones like they were glass in two runs on sunday i was wondering how people were fairing with the graphite versions. now im not saying im the nads at racing but i am no beginner and i dont regularly hit things that hard, the first one fair do"s the track was slippery and i did hit the barrier fairly hard but the second time i just clipped the apex (like most people do in every race) and it cracked like a nut. I know that graphite is more brittle and it theory it would crack easier but the real test is on the track isnt it ?

any thoughts would be appreciated

cheers darren

graphite wishbones, may be weaker and more brittle, but i cracked one on the little bit at the end and unlike plastic ones the crack doesnt spread, and to even notice it is snapped you have to piush hard with a allendriver to bend it. as the crack dosnt spread it is easy to superglue it back together,

somebody at my club was breaking a wishbone alomist every race until he made a little alluminium brace that went underneath the end of the wishbone near the thin bit, since then he hasnt broke one

Hi Darren
Have you got the east chassi yet?
Colin witt uses kit wish bones and he has no problems and i know he dosent crash that much but in the finels there is always a big pile up and he always comes out un brocken,I recon the kit ones are better as you know i do crash a lot and have only brocken two wish bones in nealy 12 months of owning a sd
I have also heard a lot about boiling the wish bones dont know if it works though you should give it a try .
See you at ipswitch good luck,Simon :D

Hi Darren,

Cheers for the brushes on sunday, once i changed the gearing a little the car was much quicker.

You had a bit of a hard time sunday mate, the second breakage was very bad considering you didn't really hit anything that hard.

If you don't want to go down the graphite road then Yok have released plastic parts that they have beefed up a little (c-hubs and steering knuckles) These should help, I believe you just add an 'H' on the end of the part number. I use graphite w/bones, c-hubs and steering knuckles and the car has stood up well.

How are you getting on with the AEAST chassis? are you at Ipswich Sunday?
