it may sound stupid but i am actually that unknowlageable about mardave cars i have a cobra
and am going to buy my first v12 TOMORROW!
and i need to know tonight if this is possible or not?

they're not designed to run on 6 cells they are made to run on 4 you can modify them to use 6 cells but they aren't race legal.
Good choice (My Favourite Car) ;D

basically you take the original battery housing off and use glass tape or insulating tape and tape the pack on! however if you are going to use the m.s.c which comes with it i'm not sure how you'll get round that as it is on top of the battery housing! :-

£20 for a servo on a mardave :o if i were you get a £7.95 one don't waste good servo's on stock cars!!!
as for the ESC get a Mtroniks ECO27 should do you to start with!
as for the budget don't worry i'm 18 and i've got a lower budget than that ;D

futaba s3003 is £8.99 RRP any model shop should do a budget servo of the type! not fast but fairly strong! as for the charger i think nikko packs are 9.6V so i wouldn't use that charger to often but i think it's ok as a temporary!

no problem ;D! basically it's a matter of preference between the rebel and the hotrod, the hotrod is the more common one more body shells, upgrades, etc. if i were you i'd gon in and see if they do any deals on the kits, some shops will take £5 off if you buy one of their packages!

Two words: Second Hand

And two good words they are.........
I bought a good condition second hand Mardave with servo for £25.
Had a few (OK very few Spare parts as well).
In our club loads of folk use second hand kit.

just thought id tell you about my battery setup
if you put the 6 cells taped in you might have trouble
if you can manage a esc and your handy with a soldering iron you can take your batt pack appart and tape 2 cells ontop of 4
i dont recomend this if you dont know what your doing
as for the nikko charger I use one and it does the job only use it if you have a cheep batt pack

Why dont you just bend up the end of the speed controller plate, so that a 6 cell pack will fit in. Then just use tape as said previously. ???

Hi there,
Alternitavely you could just unscrew the top plate and turn it upside down so the 6 cell pack will sloth straight in. If you screw the plate down pretty hard then this will prevent the battery sliding over the chassis etc.
I know it works i have had mine running like that for a while now but ive just realised that 6cell and 19t motors = NO BRUSHES left, lol...
Im going back to me 4 cell packs and me 540 motor and ill get it good doing that.

i found that the 6 cell packs tend to interfere with the shell

I wouldn't bother buying any more of those packs, as they're pretty useless if you're racing competitively. I know of a place where you can get top cells for under £20 for a 4-cell pack, and under £30 for a 6-cell pack. They are not competition matched, but they're perfect for mardave racing (although you'll have to assemble the packs yourself!)
