View Full Version : Oversteer/Diff oil?

Whilst running my Hyper 7 for the first time in anger (after a religeous run in period) I noticed a few times whilst powering out of tight slow turns that power seemed to only be transmitted to the rear wheels, generating excessive oversteer.
Now being a novice I think, only think, that this is due to too light a centre diff oil?
As this was an ARTR kit I intended to change diff oils after run-in anyhow, (as CML setup sheets).
Just so you know, no binding brakes/transmission etc...
Am i right in thinking this is probably the cause?
PS isn't WD40 a degreasent? and as such not very good for barings?
Regards
Jason

wd40 is a oil, it does degrease but it also lubricates!? you ever read the tin?

So is diesel, baby oil and olive oil, but that doesn't make them necessary right for the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having a little automotive knowledge, you should never use WD40 (which is essentially a penetrating oil) or any penetrating oil on or near bearings. Oh yes it will stop that alternater squeeling... for a while, until it seezes up!
It's great for cleaning your mountain bike chain, however you need to regrease after.
Maybe I'm wrong, after all you are cartman!

my little automotive knowledge is just over 21 years!!!
now if your going to put an oil on a rubber alternator belt, not advisable
did i say it was or was not any good for bearings? (spelt correctly by the way!)
wd also displaces water but i would rather use that in my bearings than baby oil!!!!!
of course with my knowledge i use a high grade oil on my bearings!

23 years for me. ;D
Rubber wasn't the problem!
Anyhow aren't 'ball races' pre packed and sealed?
