Hi y'all... anyone have any thoughts on a basic TC class..?

I'm thinking along the lines of motor limit only on this one... maybe the faithful Saturn 20...?

I think donny racing just have the one class, it seems to work. 10.5BL/19T. unless its changed since I was last there, seems to work pretty well, but then i think what we do is ok at the moment.

Potentially closer racing with a control motor and or 27T/20T motor , as per Mini's it could bring new people into racing and potentially cheaper with RTR cars if they're still around the £100 mark all in ? Not sure there's demand from present racers ? maybe?

My thoughts are the same Peter... insane speeds from some 27t/13.5 and 19t/10.5 can put newcomers(and 'oldcomers'..!) off... The difference in speed from the newer 13.5 compared to 10.5 is getting narrower IMO, maybe a "Club" class with the S20 could be good..?

I think what we do currently is ok too Gary, but this class is a chance to attract new blood to TC's and move the club forward...

From looking at other forums, quite a few clubs are now running with a 17.5BL class which is quite a success, maybe this is a way forward?

The same conversations, how to slow the TC class are happening at most clubs. I know one club where i race split the TC class into those with advanced timing and those without (old school class), I run in the old school and it is quite popular, the lap times are not disimilar, but theres no insane speeds on the straights.

I started a thread on here awhile back to see if anyone was interested, there are a few motor/speedo combo's with no timing advance for around the hundred quid mark, think it's an excellent idea for a class, just gota think of away of coaxing there all singing all dancing speedo's off everyone!

I think the basic TC class idea is pretty good. If I ever start racing touring cars again, I would have to go for this class. :)

I think having an 'old school stock' class is a really good idea. The main thing that puts me off running my touring car at stocksbridge at the moment is the differance in speeds in the 13.5 class. Usually the fastest people are doing at least 5 laps more than the slowest. I know that collecting people down the straight can prove a real problem sometimes too.

In terms of the speedo's, most popular advance timing speed controllers (tekin, LRP, etc) have a feature that turns all advance timing off. This is indicated in most cases by a very clear LED. For newbies it would be a great way to start off and also encourage people who have gone away from the class to come back. Big thumbs up from me :-)
