Does anyone know of any upgrade shocks available for the B4?
Try as I might, I cannot stop the oil from draining out of all of my shocks... and yes, I have done the push on the table hard part of the shocks build.

I had this problem with my B4 shocks too ..... I even went as far as to throw them away at a meeting!!!
Luckly Hywel Mills rounded them up for me and let me into a little secret ......
Alloy top caps and a fresh set of top o-rings ......
Shocks are fine now and my only complain is that the standard supplied shock cap tool isn't up to the job ... the RPM one seems to be worth every penny.
Hope this helps.

Ahh, sorry, I should have mentioned that they are draining from the bottom. But I will take your advice and source some alloy caps asap.
I seem to be having trouble getting the red oil seals into their positions inside the shock body, I've coated them in plenty of oil prior to inserting them but they never seem to want to go into place correctly. They keep pushing themselves over the washers and come out a different order than I put them in. I've even managed to ruin 2 seals.
I'm quite fluent in model building as I've been doing it for years and years, but I must say these are the most fiddly shocks I've ever seen, even if they are of a simple design.
I'd much prefer to replace all the shocks with some that are easier to maintain. I couldnt imagine having to change the oil in them for different track conditions, let alone give them a service after a few meetings.

I find all this very odd.
I built my shocks up, only changing the AE shafts for MIP, as supplied and have no problems with leaking from top cap or bottom seal.
(No more leaks than my old B3 or T3 anyway! ;))

I had a little trouble with the rear seals on my B4, however I've never had or know anyone bar Rog who had problems with the tops. I do however have the RPM tool for the shocks which does make things MUCH easier.

Check the recess in the bottom of the shocks for swarfe, from when they were machined.
I had this very problem with the threaded shock bodies, the recess at the bottom still had metal in it, so the plastic clip wouldn't seat properly.
I took a large needle to them and simply flicked the swarfe out, and ever since they have not leaked.

Replace the seals with the Blue MIP ones.

Replace the seals with the Blue MIP ones.
The small red seals inside, or the large black ones at the top?

I thinks its a manufacturing problem with the new rear bodies used for the B4. I've never had any trouble with AE shocks, right from the days of the alloy chassis RC10. Up till now the shock bodies have always been the same, but the B4 uses slightly shorter rear bodies. Some people have the leaking, some dont, unfortunatly I do :'(
I'm pretty sure they hav'nt got the tolerences right, if I look at the seals in the rear shocks they're not as compressed as the fronts, ie the hole in the seal is bigger. I've been meaning to try some MIP seals or threaded bodies, but not got round to it, recently they seem to have fixed themselves :P

Don't strip them down then, you might remove the dirt blocking the seals ;D;D;D
