Hi guys
Im pretty new to r/c racing and picked up a Tamiya TT-01 to start off with first. After the first week I decided to get the ballbearing set as well as the aluminium prop shaft. The week after that I decided to get the motor changed. I asked around and the company I bought my TT-01 told me that my car's esc can handle motors between 23T and 27T. So I went to a hobby shop got myself fitted with a 23T motor from LRP - a "runner special - wet magnet type". The guy at the shop guranteed me it would work and being in a mall I was able to test the car out with a range of 5 meters or so without any problems. But the real problems started when I went to play for distance ... as soon as I passed the 10 or 15 meter mark my car would literally run off by itself. It wouldnt cut itself off after going out of "range" 9 this being only 10-15m) and drove off by itself quite a few time. Im pretty much at a loss as to what to do here since the guy at the shop doesnt accept refunds~! Any advice would be much obliged ...
Thanks!

Sounds like the new motor is causing interference. Go back to the shop and ask them to fit some noise-reducing capacitors. They cut down motor frequency 'noise', which causes glitching. The motor may already have some on, but I always fit an extra 3 to be safe.

If you hold you car in your hand and give it full throttle, and the steering jitters, then you need capacitors. Same when a full throttle and the mottor jitters.

I think the differenceis the level of frequency it blocks out. I *think* the blue ones block out more noise than yellow.

I have no ideas about capacitors and such and will keep it in mind ... however the guys I got the motor from are not willing to solder on the capacitors for me, even when I was willing to pay for the service for some reason. Going back to the stock motor till someone takes the motor off my hands ... probably one of my friends ... but thanks for the explainations, ill know what to do and look out for in the future.

Just want to check another thing with you guys ... does anyone have a recurring problem of the steering dogbones popping out if the car hits something at a turn? Mine have popped out quite often and I nearly lost 1 while I was out racing today. Just want to know if theres a way to at least keep them in the steering column instead of having them pop out all over the place.
Anyone else experienced this or have a simple or good solution? Something to prevent the dogbone form popping out from the steering sockets would be best but Id settle for it just staying in the column!
thanks guys.

Which end of the driveshaft do the pop out? The wheel end or the differential end?
Buying Universal Joint (UJ) drivshafts, where the wheel bolts directly to the driveshaft is simple way to cure the problem, but I don't know if they are available for the TT01.

i have the same problems on my tao4ss. I dont thinck you can get a set of universal drive shafts for the tto1 but if you were to ajust the camber on the wheals to negative on the front it should stop it from happening
hopefully but you may not be able to do this on your car :)

if u dont ave the universal drive shafts then use then rubber rings wot u use from ur suspension (2 lower and make it higher) level out the drive shaft 2 stop the drive shafs from popping out
p.s : dont ave 2 many in so its 2 tight coz u cause strain on the wheel and could breake ur car ;D

you can get UJ's for the TT-01 from GPM but i may be better to fit ball diffs first. to get them go to the AISATEES web site or find them on ebay

Anyone know of any good setups for the TT01?
I have added a aluminium Prop Shaft and waiting for some ball racers to arrive, but still need to get more out of it.
Any help.......
