I've just been able to borrow a Novak SS brushless, I was wondering what gearing to run it on.

Its got the 20t pulley, 3300 cells and the track is similar in size to Milton Keynes. Starting with a 86t spur is a good point

I gear mine between a monster and a modified to start with.

Well, I tried it last night.

It wasn't my system, so I wanted to be well on the safe side. 21/86 was awesome. Loads of punch, and the top-end was almost too much.

ESC was warm-ish, the motor was cool. :D

I want, need an SS badly!

Hi
I run mine in my sst so the ratios shouldn't be so different. You have to be careful with the brushless as it must be run withen a certian ratio or u will reck it. Check the booklet that comes with it and it will tell you wat the recomedation for it is. And when you no that you should be ok if you can work out the ratio between spur and pinoin.

I run my Novak system in my Yokomo SD at an overall ratio of 5.14. 8)

This ratio was recommended by Mr. Bob Novak himself for large outdoor tracks but I would not go this low with your ratio on tight indoor tracks.

Graham Creasey ran his TC3 at the halifax race with this same ratio of 5.14 and he came 3rd in the B final which is not too shabby! ;D

I have been running this ratio for about 5 months now and it's great! The speedo is warm but not hot and performanc is great. The ratios stated in the manual are a guide only and I would not have gone down to the 5.14 ratio had I not heard fro Novak first.

Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone. I've progressed into using the SS in a HPI Super RS4 electric, and its is still punchy and quick despite all of the extra weight.
