M05 gears...

Many of you may well remember my scintillating pole to pole victory in the illustrious B final on the 12th, in which I "held it together well with a noisy gearbox" to quote our magnaminous resident race controller Peter.... well the new Tami parts arrived from Japan in a remarkable 5 days!!! result!!! jc-rc or similar is the 'bay userid I think...

I'm sure I'll get 'em installed for the meet after next... (but being me it will be the night before!!) Oh, BTW... I have painted another beetle shell to use, not quite as twee as the current herbie scheme, but it is a bit of an eye burner!!! deffo won't get lost against the carpet that's a fact...! :D

p.s. forgot to add... I've got another 2 beetle shells on the way... paint suggestions please(keep it clean...) I thought CUP racer type livery maybe...

Well I'm looking forward to ordering a nice Renault Clio V6 shell and when it comes, it's getting painted gun grey and possibly green. My fiat shell has bits literally falling off it, I'm beginning to wonder if it'll still be race legal after the next meeting.

I've just ordered a 'Monte Carlo Mini Shell', doubt it'll last long tho! My BMW Mini is looking a bit battle scarred.

are those fiat abarth wheels?

I'm thinking of a new shell now, whatever I get it will be Ford ultimate (focus RS) green and carbon fibre filmed....

I dont want to remove the lights from the 500, but for racing I think the control unit for the LEDS stuck to the roof of the shell doesnt exactly help its centre of gravity.

does anybody have an standard friction shocks i can buy off them? the ones with the shaft down the middle? mine are simply sprung with nothing else!!!!

My charger finally arrived after 4 week :-o

cant wait for sunday.... my aim is to keep on all 4 wheels :-)

I've got the original friction shocks that came off my M03. I'll have them with me on sunday if you want them.

i thought u were picking somebody up from East mids? I've adapted my shocks, so i'll test em out first. ;)

Put some grease in the diff and it now seems like it has torque steer? Its deffo quicker at cornerin, but not sure if its a bit too unpredictable:eek:

either way... its all a learning curve for me.... maybe it'll work, maybe i'll have to spend some money :'(

Luckily i had a holiday booked I didn't even know I had, so.....

Oh good spot peter... I was considering the stripe over the "boot" a la Boss 302, but in my minds eye it didn't look quite right... so I ended up at this... Team Hokori custom house offered the black bonnet and boot as a RSi6 turbo conversion colour scheme for 2003 but later the black also continued over the roof too!! again that didn't seem right in my imagination... but on reflection..? hmm, maybe..! (could be a night on the brake fluid and elbow grease..!)

No Ste it is the Colt... but you are bang on with the wheels tho' (geek..!;))

IMO, the effect the weight of a LED control box on the inside of the roof could cause would be negligible... but I ain't no physics guru... :D

If theres batteries up in the roof I can imagine it might be a little top heavy, handout transponders mounted high up have a similar effect.

We had a good turnout of Mini's again with 11 cars in all , 10 tourers and 2 GT-10 cars , some newcomers racing. Good racing from Chris, Charles and John in the 'A' final , Ian Slingsby making the 'A' and Steve just missing out but driving well.

Many thanks to Steve and Ben Putt for providing their surplus tyres and inserts to the touring car drivers, much appreciated.

really enjoyed yeserday. liked that every heat i was getting quicker (even by reverting to the silver can) - i cant handle the speed yet lol

didnt roll as often either.
