Does the WLRC track have a temperature probe within the loop or in the track itself?
I though it would be a good idea at the start of each race/round the track temp could be called out? would aid all racers on tyre choice.

Is this viable?
Thanks

I think we might have in the past. Will look into it at the next meeting I attend (28th Sept).

Yes Jason that was quite a day!!!

Glad this thread has been resurrected as I had forgotten to announce we have purchased a top of the range temperature gun. This will be available at race control and once we start remembering we will take readings from the tarmac and announce them if they provide any help to you.

So how long before someone asks you if the track is wet then? ;D

Sounds like this could be a great idea - would definatly help out with tyre choice...

I was taking readings when we had recent frosty start to the meeting. Provided some interesting results. Not much help with tyre choice as not much works under those conditions apart from maybe mini-pins/spikes.

Where the track surface was damaged some years ago. The area of the repair always seems to de-frost quicker and drys out quicker after rain. By using the "gun" I was able ascertain the main area of track surface was minus 4.5 degrees where as the repair indicated only minus 2.9 degrees. Interesting????!! Helpful, not really. Kept me entertained for a bit though!!!!

Hopefully the repair carried out after yesterdays aborted meeting will allow use of compressor. Un-able to fully test due to inclement weather.

Forget the temp probe! but we definite need a minute by weather forecast... this happened yesterday and in about 10 minutes marshalls were making snowmans on the track!!! :o

and the compressor wont blow all that white stuff away!
