Thanks to all who attended and helped out today and thanks to Glen for providing a webcast of the event.

Some great racing in the Tamiya Mini class and 1:12 classes along with the established Touring class. Well done to Chris Hudson (Mini), Dave Allen (1:12) and Peter Gill (1:10 Touring)

Good to see faces old and new enjoying themselves ;)

hey y'all... Stocksbridge die-hards rool! Top day had by all attendees... sadly my accursed mini had a bout of the gremlins that I have now traced to the RX... damn those spektrums! Oh, and the TC suffered a fatal accident in the final to the "C" hub after only 2 laps!(Ggrrr...) Ho-hum, such is life... Ta to P 'n K for running the day and those amongst us who build and tear down the track... see ya next time...

I seem to have lost the plot at Stocksbridge. My hodoo has struck once again. Went to Ardent yesterday had 6 practice runs and 3 heats and 2 finals and completed every second of every run.
Now why is that, even the Ghostly rock went well.

Fast open track vince, Ardent is almost 3 metres wide everywhere

May well be Vince, but it all comes down to Peter and Keith and what direction they wish to take the club ?

Well, it's not always easy or fair to compare venues, having said that, as I understand it Ardent have a larger carpet area to lay a wider track on and also (unless I'm wrong) don't tape the carpet down, it's fixed.

We try and follow the edge of the carpet to minimise lifting of the tape , sometimes we have run a wider straight, 2 metres is usually a good guideline for the rest of the track. Sometimes we do come up with fast flowing tracks that turn out to be somewhat tighter by the end of building.

I thought 1:12 drivers could drive round anything ;)

Like it Peter.

Ardent carpet is'nt fixed, it does move. Which is the one drawback, with all the constant use and the hot days we have had, the carpet does seem to stretch, hence it does lift in places. I suppose it is difficult with it being down all the time, the difference in temperatures during the day and then the cooler nights it must shrink and then stretch. I suppose if it was glued to the backing boards it would be better, but then you'd get the repair expense. Incidentally, Ardent is 8 widths of carpet, whilst we only have 7, and is a much faster, wider and sweeping track.

Also at Ardent you don't tend to get many novice drivers, mainly all experienced. I for one wouldn't want our club to go any other way, I don't mind racing in the lower heats, its not so long ago I was there all the time. It stops us forgetting where we all started, and is good practice of being aware of the other cars on the track.

The main difference I have found is in the equipment used, its nearly all the expensive esc's there, and I get murdered on the straight! My set up is last years and is fine here, but lacking at Ardent. As I choose to run here, it was my first club, I dont see the need to change, .....yet!
