Important Changes to Series
We are a new venture and new to running race events so don't always get it right :-), from feedback gained at the first Round of the series it would appear that 5 min 12th pan Heats and us giving half our profits out as Cash Prizes was not what you racers want.
Therefore we are making the following changes from Round 2 onwards to hopefully attract more racers to our series:
12th Scale drivers will run 8 min Qualifiers and 8 min Finals
£4 from each entrant will be donated to Cancer Research, with an end of series Trophy for the top 5 in each Class.

We hope you will join us at the next round. And hope this fits better with what racers want.

Although I didn't attend the meeting, I have to say that the thought of cash prizes only fills me with dread. This is a hobby enjoyed by amateurs, and to that end we like to help others rather than ourselves. There have been a few attempts at a 'professional' series over the years, and they all failed due to lack of support. In the end, lower-skill drivers get fed up with seeing their hard-earned ending up in the hands of drivers with more money to spend on equipment, or that killer ingredient, more driving skill, and go somewhere else. Without their support, the cash dries up and the series dies. On a more detailed level, there is no greater guarantee of declining driving standards than knowing that knocking out the guy in front will give you another few quid - been there, seen that, hated it!!

Personally, five minute heats for 12th don't bother me if it means you can get in more racers from other classes to generate more funds for the venue, or charity, and bigger participation. Nonetheless, 12th racers always do it for longer! ;)

Hope to get down to at least one meeting, John, as it is alway a pleasure racing at Ardent.

Hi
Had a first hand report from Vince today of the Ardent meeting. Seems you have a great set up and although your to far away for me to race regularly I will definitely have to make the effort to make one of your meetings.
With regard to the cash I feel you have made the right decision. Most racers have a realistic expectation of where they may finish and enjoy racing with others they know. Where they finish overall is often irrelevant , more its did I beat xyz etc.
I certainly wouldn't want to race for cash even if I had the ability and has I haven't the thought of handing over £4 with no chance of a return doesn't really appeal.
Money to charity or a raffle etc seems a far better idea.
Regards
