i know i am starting another topic on this but i think its worth it

i now have some footage of my Micro RS4 racing round the HWMSC track.

the clip i have is short at the moment but i do have a lot more footage of the racing.. i just need to edit it (see the truck talk section for some videos of Mini T racing at HWMSC)

this is RWD micro rs4 running the standard kit motor and a team orion 6 cell pack (the regular one)

Peter Ellis wanted to know how my car could work.. well here it is

the track layout you can see is not great.. lots of straights, but i can assure you it goes as well if not better on tighter circuits.. i will edit up some more footage and get some more of it on another layout next month..

ps. i have changed the shell, i am now running the Mer shell!!

Hi Lewis - I've seen - looks good - is this on carpet? It looks and sounds like a pretty hard polished / painted surface. My dad's driven it rear wheel drive and it's ok - I've not had chance as yet - I'd much rather bring my M18 down and try it - I think the jury's still out. Not sure what your track's like compared to ours - it's wide enough - but quite technical in the infield - I think our straight is a bit longer. It's certainly getting round pretty quick and thank goodness the Micro RS4 doesn't eat motors like the M18!!

Have to holiday the High Wycombe way sometime, I made the lap about 11/12 seconds?

its proper racing carpet

the laps are about 26 - 28 laps with averages between 10.5 to 12 seconds depending.. might get a sub 10 fastest but that you be pushing it.

this circuit is a bit of a slow one for these cars (its a horsepower track!) but other circuits are better and the micros do better on due to the tightness of the track.

i am about 2 to 3 laps (or can be on a good day!) up on an M18 with 5 cells and a standard motor on foams.. and i can keep level with and just beat an M18 with 5 cells and a fat motor (can't remmeber what motor it was i think i mentioned this before!)

the car's saving grace could be in the tyres though!! i am 1/12th circuit tyres mounted on the standard rims.!

Beating a 5 cell M18 means nothing to me, I've never even seen one running - I can't work out how much power would be getting to the big bore motor - well it's six volts but I think they're a lot happier with six cells. You need to race a 180 powered six cell M18. I guess the fact that it's got the big bore motor even with six cells should suggest its quick, but it can't be when you are so far up on it! It's probably driving too! So the 1/12 tyres grip much better than any Micro tyre? Are they trued right down to the same size as the rubber or Orion foams, or are you gearing up via the tyres?! Where's High Wycombe ? I'll go on a route planner and see how many hundreds of miles it is to get to race!! We don't get any Micro drivers dropping in to race at our club, only 1/10. It does look good on the video, not too much tail sliding at all - The 5 cell M18 sounds terrible though - not a good advert for the M18!?, still, it's not your fault ;D

the five cell big bore motor was as fast in a straight line but not through the corners!

the thing is, my car is quick because it doesn't need to drag round a drive belt, or shaft for that matter!!

I stuck te UFRA tyres to the rims then trued them down to the same size as the rubber tyres!! they last for ages though.. as for gripping better than the propper foams, i wouldn't know, i have driven an M18 on foams (the quick one) and it seamed well planted!

The M18 in the vid died very shortly afterwards!

I know it was a little bit iffy quality, so it loaded quick but I never saw an M18 in the video! I could hear another car but only saw yours (that the camera follows) I could see your car fine but no others!

ah.. there is one there !! :)

the 5 cell 180 is not a good combination! it just a little slow and gutless!!

mine is actually quite punchy, you can use the power to move the back round on a very tight circuit!! if you tighten the diff up a little! and on open circuits like this back the diff rite off!! so its nice and free (i am still running the gear diff!)

I'll keep looking! - The rwd RS4 seems pretty good - it's just getting the balance right with the tyres I guess. My dad's looks ok on the track, it's just getting the understeer/oversteer balance right. My RX-7 Micro RS4 currently has a motor tab broken off the standard motor - so I'm stuck with the 'slow' M18! (fast, fast, fast - not slow on six cells honestly!)
