Has anyone else had problems with their bearings on carpet?
Some of my wheel bearings appear to have seized, this happened last week too. Not sure if it's cos of the design of the xxx-s but it appears that the carpet fibres get wrapped around the rear driveshaft (CVD) where it goes through the twin bearings in the hub carrier. Then because the fibres keep building up and generate heat with the friction caused from rubbing against the bearing, the threads seem to maybe 'melt' into the shield of the bearing?? All other bearings elsewhere in the car, such as the diff outdrives are fine.
I have 2 types of bearing in my car, blue shield ones and standard losi metal ones, the blue shield ones survived without a problem and still spin freely but the metal ones are solid therefore making the drivetrain stiff, i'll try blasting them later.
Cheers,
Dan
