Will I save much weight by running a aftermarket carbon (fibrelyte)battery strap and bottom plate rather than the standard ones suplied with the xxx-s graphite plus?

I would have thought the carbon fibre one would be heavier than the losi graphite one. there is not much weight in the Losi battery bar at all.

by bottom plate, do you mean the bit that covers the belt?

yep sure do.

Its just my car seem unusually heavy as I mentioned in another thread. Plus the woven carbon will look quite cool!

I had one machined for me out of circuit board material and its about half the weight, a carbon one I would assume weigh about the same, perhaps a tat lighter.

The thing it you will be taking the weight of in the wrong are, as you will be raising the centre of gravity, the idea of saving weight is to take it of ether high up or from the sides to get the weight and centre of gravity as close and as low to the middle of the car as possible.

Id remove weight from higher up but am not skilled enough to start removing material from the transmission tunnel.
I know I'd screw it up!

Just found some pics of his car, Its milled out in such a way that the transmission is still sealed! Or is it moulded like that?

Kinwald wouln't be gutted if he broke a chassis..... in the last three or so BIG US TC races he's had a different milling job on each one.... i remember reading a race report where it showed his car plus his spare car and his spare spare car all with nice milled chassis....

I wonder what Kinwald spends his "free" time at work doing?!?!? Wonder if Losi are going to sell any milled chassis?
