i'm returning back to racing after resting my thumbs for the past 4 year and i'm after a new speedo and motor set up. i have heard that there's some problems with some speedos (gm 120) when using a ko esprit 2 handset on 40 meg.
does anyone know of any other speedos that have problems when running on 40 meg?

I have been trying to get my Losi Xcelorin to work with my KO Esprit 2 on 40mHz, but having problems. When you use the throttle, the steering starts glitching, and the motor is stuttering. It does it whilst laid out on the floor, but not as bad as in the car. It seems like the speedo is upsetting the receiver, as when it is moved as far away as the leads allow it reduces. As I understand it, it is switching noise from the speedo interfering with the receiver. When I tried one of my aircraft Spektrum receivers, I could put it in between the speedo and the motor and it worked perfectly. It looks like it doesnt like the KO 40mHz gear. I am going to speak to Horizon tomorrow to see what they say, but I suspect there might be nothing they can do unless it has a genuine fault. If this is the case, I will be trying to get it swapped for a different make, or a refund. If it has difficilties with KO systems, I was not aware of it. Where did you hear about the problems?
BTW my Speed Passion works fine in my 2WD.

I was using a Losi Xcelorin with my 40MHz KO Mars radio. Worked perfectly. My KO set has a 297 Rx.

I sent my Xcelorin back to Horizon, and they said they managed to replicate the problem with some 40mHz gear themselves. They sent a new speedo out, along with advice about mounting the RX on its side in a XX4 which I had already done. I found for sale a converted to 2.4gHz Esprit 2 at a good price, and decided to buy it. When the Xcelorin returned, I tried it with the 40mHz gear again hoping the problem would be gone. Unfortunately, it was behaving exactly the same as before.... When I tried it with the 2.4 gear, it works fine. I have not bothered contacting Horizon again as I see no point, and it didnt sound like the shop I bought it from would want to exchange it either if needed.
Personally, I would not recommend the Losi setup for 40mHz. I have never had a problem with the KO gear until this happened. It works perfectly fine with my Speed Passion speedo, so I wish I had got one of those now!!

I have been running an Excelerion for over a year with a KO 40mhz, not had any problems, other than you need to set the initial acceleration & timing to high or v. high.
