Quote from elsewhere on the site:

David Spashett Tq'd with his Losi from Craig Drescher's TC-3,Richard Barton's TC-3, Chris Grainger's Yokomo and the X-Rays of Ben Cosgrove and Andrew Moore.
The A final saw a win for Richard from Craig and Andy, David dropped out with a broken belt.

Does anyone know what actually happened?? His motor must have put alot of strain on the drivetrain to have snapped the belt!!!

if you drive a xxxs like you should do then you snap belts, hammer the throttle.

He snapped the belt by a hitting a back marker that span out in front of him.

I have driven an xxx-s since they first came out and have only ever snapped 2 belts in all that time. If you have the belt tension set up corectly then the belt should not snap for a long while, however hard you drive it.

I too have driven an XXX-S since they were first released and am still using the original (blue) belt. I know the new yellow belt is supposed to be more flexible so perhaps it isn't quite as strong.

running the xxx4 I have not snapped a belt, even when the tensioner came loose in one race...

though for the xxx4 its a green belt 'High Tension belt' I think and is the blue one the 'high speed belt' ?

How can hitting a back marker snap a belt??

Jason Jane:- sounds like something Jason would say, doesn't it Jane? But since he's defected to the TC3, it doesn't matter! (traitor! >:()

maybe the belt was already worn out?

he was really going away with the leed, miles ahead, then hit the back marker and just stopped. when i was talking to him after, he said he was annoyed cus he wasnt even trying, after craig had that incident anyway.
ah well.

could someone explain that long word to me that chris just posted?

daves not trying comment would be in comparison to when he really puts the hammer down. trust me, when i was watching him, he did look as if he was cruising to victory, was a real shame.

Thats the only gripe i have about being in the stock nats. You don't see the top (MODIFIED...) drivers!

hi all
i've been running a xxxs since rfeb and i've snapped one belt so far but this was my own fault because i used shorter motor screws than i should have, i hit from a back marker and this ripped one srcew out i later carried on but the screw got caught it the diff and streched and snapped

I've been running my xxx-s for a year and the only problemo with belts is that a tiny little stone got caught between the belt on the diff and the bottom of the chassis. It wore away the belt on one side.
