View Full Version : Lipo Storage voltage what's best
Not seen this one covered but may of been. Followed a thread on a US forum where there was concern as to what voltage they are stored at.
The theme is that 3.2V is too low whilst 3.9 is too high. I guess somewhere in-between say 3.6V would be OK. Cells have a very low internal resistance/leakage. Does anyone know the true answer and why ?

Wim, typically most LiPo manufacturers supply their cells with an initial charge of around 3.75V, we have found a good level for long term storage, i.e. 2+ months, is 3.80V,
For just a few weeks, we just store at the level at the end of a race, which is generally around 3.6V - 3.8V
Excellent thanks Mike Just what I was looking for this will hold true for all racers to keep cells in tip top condition

I bought a great little gadget called "Battery Doctor" for about £25. It's balancer/discharger with a storage mode. It gently discharges the cells down to 3.8v, balancing as it goes.
Handles 2s to 6s packs with JST-XH balance plugs.
