I cant run the spool in my Mi3 indoors when theres hosing filled with sand because if i hit a corner either an outdrive will get mangled or a drive shaft will snap n just rip the whole thing to pieces so im always having to run a diff in the front. Someone told me that putting like 6 of those 0.1 shims either end of the bearings forces the drive shafts further in and then you can run spool indoors. However i cant put it back together with this many shims in.

Anyone have any ideas on what to do? I was told Associated used to make a thing called a slipper spool so that when you hit a corner it just slipped and nothing got broke.

Just run the Diff very tight, has almost the same effect (bit heavier though!)

You can take the balls out of a diff and put some very thin card between the plates and the pullies, then tighten it all up. That will slip to a point, but still be like a spool.

However, I think you must have something wrong if you are breaking so much.

The whole cars been re-built loads of times i cant find anything wrong with it. I know a few other people with the same problem, others have recommended titanium drive shafts and things.

Going to try taking the balls out and using card though cheers!
