Hi I am considering joining or coming along to the club to see what goes on and if i would stand a chance , currently just purchased an old CLK TL01 Merc on standard 540 motor with no mod apart from ESC, i was wondering what you guys are running and is the club worth joining?

Also thinking of a new car in a few months any suggestions?

You'd be more than welcome mate. Best club I drive at, and I do use a few, everybody is approachable and helpful. We dont all have the super fast modded cars, you'll still find the TT-01 and cyclone S being used.

Thats nice to know thanks GR seems like from reading some of these forums that everyone is on advanced cars so nice to see the older models still getting some focus, presently i am trying to sort my problem of the low battery life that my packs give, is everyone driving with the new lipo or do people still bother with Nicad & Nimah is there much difference with weight?

I have a few batteries now but need a higher capacity i have been looking round a number of sites and seen some with higher capacity so and deciding lipo or high cap? it seems though that the lipo world is a little confusing where as the nicad type use to be just plug and go & easy charge?

Mainly Nimh or Lipo, personally I use lipo, longer run time and I find they have a bit more punch too.

The lipo is lighter, but as your car will have to be 1500g minimum, the lipo lets you put the weight in the position where you need it on the chassis.. "sticky-backed" 5 & 10g weights let you do this with ease...

lipo are more plug and go and easier charged than nicd or nimh have ever been... no cycling etc... they can be topped-up at will with no ill effects between heats for instance, and keep the charge waaaay longer too... choose lipo... it's the future!! :D

I used to love my TL-01 , it's a great little car for getting your teeth into RC , I wouldn't worry too much about having the latest / best gear all the time - skill still comes into it a fair bit :) One thing with the higher capacity Lipo batteries is that it's quite possible to do more than one race with just one pack but follow the charging guidelines carefully :)
