Dude, its democracy, people can vote what type of AMR12 they want to drive ;)

German Mob

No I checked....its only little difference....Dale from PF told me he had to change little things.....
Thats what he did....mine were test shells....so actually Vince has the version that will be sold now.

But not as we know it.

Right with you now..

Ahh but is it the right shade of red?

Has to be the right shade or the ionisation of the air doesn't take place, to make it less dense, and hence give you that bit more speed.

Markus, as you've run with this shell, what are it's characteristics and how does it compare to the others we know and "love"?

dont forget a red car is faster lol

He Nick!
Hope you do fine....
Well.....thats a bit hard to compare. We run IFMAR/US rules in Germany, so I mostly ran a BA002 and Parma Speed 8 HD. It has less steering than a BA002 for sure....but more rear traction. Its easy to drive...but did not test enough on different tracks.

It always depends on the drivers liking....but it was good.

I was little surprised a shell can look like this under the new rule, Dale did a great job, no doubt about it. But when I unpacked it...I thought...hm....does it look less slot "carish"??????

I have to say that looking at Vince's horrid looking example, a man on the street would struggle to see the difference between it and a PF speed 12.

Still, I have 2 on order and will be running them if they produce a better lap time than a zytek, so thats all that really matters for me now. The ruling is there, like it or not, until at least this time next year.

dont forget a red car is faster lolBut a white car with purple trimmings is the fastest! ;)

I'm surprised how narrow the cockpit is, and how much a paint job does to change the perceived shape of the car. Will it be the de-facto standard? Time will tell...

Er... he's won Nationals and he's won a National Championship - so a lot quicker than you, then! :p :D :D

I was thinking more of a certain five times World Champion whose paint job was a bit more distinctive than Keith's... ;)

Cockpit, did someone mention cockpit...........

Just how the hell am i ever going to be able to spray that.........

Just about, and I mean just..... (over 30 years in the game) got the one coat white perfected on my Zytec....

This is not funny it is a major concern for me........:(

Will I be scraping again........:D:D:D

Red faster? Surely not eh Jason!

No confusion between body colours either. KRob has a white and fetching shade of pink coloured shell for sure.

BTW, have an AMR shell to mount and paint ready for the weekend, just got to finish building the car first! Then there are batteries and tyres to sort....
I may not be ready on time.........................!

Need to perfect your smilie selection skills, Mark. Not  you meant :o:o

Just painted and mounted up an AMR, and despite thinking I'd never say this... I prefer the look of the Zytek! I'm a fan of closed cockpit shells and believe the parma speed 8 looks better than the zytek. However...

The protoform PR image of the shell is deceptive - in the flesh the shell is taller and bulkier, especially around the front arches. The side pods are also much taller than I thought. It would be better if we could trim it above the cut lines and lower it a bit, but I guess this isn't allowed...:(

On the plus side, there's plenty of room around the rear end for brushless motors, pods and sensor cables.:)

The good news is that it comes with a window mask... Nigel!:D

Where as I am in what has been previously known as "a reduced state of readiness". Current issues that need resolving for tomorrow are as follows: Car (need to build), shell, tyres, cells, speedo, hotel.

Other than that, we're ready!!

Chris Kerswell

How is that a "reduced state of readiness"?? I'd call that over prepared!

I don't know how Phil can talk. Packing up before him is not really something to be proud of.

You need a calendar to measure how long it's taken Phil to get ready/pack up.

That's got to be the best post I've read all week! Brilliant! I'm loving page 3 of this thread!:D

Well, things are progressing nicely here. Issue of car is virtually resolved and speedo has had 75% of it's surgery - or put another way, enough for now!! Shell is likely to be resloved by one that i have kicking around, tyres can wait till tomorrow.

Just leaves cells and hotel!

Chris Kerswell
18-09-2009, 06:02 PM
Is that a hint.... I've just got 4 cells of yours left to run through the matcher this evening then you will just have to build them Sat afternoon - so that's cells basically sorted!

Just hotel.... but remember you bought a tent on the way to Cotswalds..... :D

From an organisers point of view its getting quite worrying that 'racers' are vying to be less well 'organised' than CK :(:(...

I dont like the sound of that Matt, what am I in for? lol

Chris Kerswell

You need a hair drier, small screw driver, dremel, super glue, a few hours and some patience. Then you will have a '12th spec' GM 120 :)

MattW
18-09-2009, 06:58 PM
I just used soldering iron - soldering wires got it hot enough!!, screw driver, dremel and glue - but then I haven't done quite as much of a compressive job as crisis. Oh, and took me about half an hour!

Wow, I've got a red speedo that looks pretty good after reading that.

I definitely think there's a case for buying a speedo that doesn't weigh a ton by the sound of that!

Ahh, yes, I have one of those red speedos too, Its also much simpler to setup! Shame they are not as fast though!!

My alternative is blue - although I guess it should be red!

I found the red and black ones pretty fast in Vegas - thanks again Mr. Randy Pike... ;)

These last few pages are like reading Heat or Closer - the stars reveal their secret fear of race days - "Preparation is my recurring nightmare" moans White!! :D

Good luck to all at the GP!

Yer gonna say Jonny, sounds slow to me lol.

Matt/Crisis, how far have you gone with the speedos? have you taken more than the heatsink off?
