Hi
If you could stretch your budget by about £10 then you could get a Ko Propo PDS-2413 ICS which is about the best you can get for a touring car. It's low-profile and light, but still quick and with enough torque.

Not if you search on a well known internet auction site it isn't.

You could get a Savox SH-1251MG its low profile, water proof, rated at 0.09sec at 6V, 9kg-cm of torque and it weighs 44.5g for about £46. Or you could try and get a second hand Futaba 9551 its rated at 0.11sec at 6V, 8.8Kg-cm of torque, and weighs 45g for about £35.

I have the Futaba and its brilliant, but if I was going to get a new one id go for the Savox.

I'd get any one of the higher end KO or Futaba servos. They're both top names in radio gear for a good reason. I've got the KO one Alex recommended and I couldn't fault it. Don't get the Futaba 9602 that someone mentioned though...it's a 12th servo!

Having said that, if your budget is that strict and you're buying new, then you have to look at the cheaper ones. For touring cars look for something fast with metal gears. Torque is less of an issue (with those Savox ones, you'd never need more than 10Kg torque anyway, even off-road).

Some of the guys run Savox servos at our Club. Nothing but good reviews sofar...

If my Futuba ever breaks, I wont be spending another £100 on that, I can get 2 Savox ones for the same price !!!!

Am I missing something here? You're the second person to recommend the futaba S9602 even though it's a 12th size servo!?

What's to say the KO servo will die? ;) Also, the RRP is £108 and you can pick one up for aorund £70, so not sure where you're getting your prices from.

Size 36x15x30.7mmWeight: 31gmCoreless motor Metal gears and from "google"
(not sure if im allowed to put these up if not please remove)
£56.99 new - Elite Models
£41.40 new - ETAMIYA.COM
£41.40 new - WALKERA-HELICOPTERS.COM
i'm KO through and have many 2173's and 2174's some 6 years old the best £95 i spent on them. I'm having to change them for digi ones due to the old analogue servos not working well with KO 2.4 fine on Spektrum.
With regard to the Savox info i work in the model RC trade(not KO nor futaba), On the face of it i superb cheap (ish) servo but has no length of life perticulaly in 1/8th.

Yet again someone recommends a 1/12th servo

Apart from the fact it won't mount easily in most cars, the lack of torque from the S9602 (it has 2/3 that of a standard cheap Futaba S3003 servo worth £7!) will mean that the steering speed will suffer a lot under load.

yeah this is for a tourer. looks like it will probably be the savox then

Thanks! Thought I was losing it :p

There's no way you need a servo that small in a tourer, so spend the same amount of cash for a standard size one with more speed and torque

Not sure where you get 2/3 from but heres the spec on s3003
Speed: .23 sec/60° @ 4.8V or .19 sec/60° @ 6V
Torque: 44 oz-in @ 4.8V or 56.8 oz-in @ 6V
(3.2 kg-cm @ 4.8V or 4.1 kg-cm @ 6V)
Size: 1.6"L x .8"W x 1.4"H (41x20x36mm) w/o output shaft
Weight: 1.3oz (37.2g)
BIG, Heavy, biblicaly slow. Not sure how much torque you really need for a TC? I only run 8KG in rally X and 12KG in Truggy the cars weigh over 3KG my TC weighs 1.4KG with 260g of added wieght where i want it for balance
Good luck with the savox, any specs on the servo you intend to use? for referance.
i hope to still be makin A finals in the winter series with the futaba in my T2 009. as i do at club. Happy days

The Bluebird range of servos...

Far better quality than the price would indicate ;)...

For 'premium' quality then you should be looking no further than the Futaba range... The low profile models are perfect for TCs...

Suspect the 2/3 is because the 2.7Kg of the s9602 is almost exactly 2/3 of the 4.1Kg in the s3003 servos! If it works for you, then by all means stick with it. In the meantime, I'd not pay all that extra cash for a weak servo to save a few millimetres of space!

I've had a Futaba S9550 in every touring car I have owned over the last 5-6 years. In fact, I now own 3 of these servos. I've tried other Futaba models and some high end KO servos but always end up swapping them back to the 9550.

I like its speed and torque. It might not have quite as much as some of the very high powered KO ones, but the 9550 has more than enough for 1/10 touring cars. It's also exceptionally smooth, metal gears etc, etc, etc.

As for budget, the last one I bought was for £30 from that on line auction site.
