Is there a minimum height for the rollmast?

I'm sure I was told 150mm measured from the ground up

I don't think there is an official limit as such, but we have a club rule that it should be at least 150mm from the ground as otherwise they tend to dig into and damage the carpet. Clubs tend to get a bit unhappy if that happens

Great thanks, will be runing a 2.4 radio so they have a short airel wire.

I use heatshrink to attach the wire up as far as it needs to go. That way you don't have to rely on the roll mast cap to keep the wire on. Then I glue the cap on.

Jason Butterfield and I route the Spektrum aerial over the top of the servo - works fine!

Pic working fine here but Peter has pointed you to the same one, so as long as you can see it it's fine.

Do you have to run a rollmast even if you dont run the ariel wire around it?

I think roll masts are not officially required, but there are some clubs that make them compulsory. Note that a club rule such as this can also apply for a national at that club. For example Chesterfield requires a roll mast and it's length has to be 150mm from the ground for ALL events at the club.

A roll mast should always be run. It's a safety issue, as cars without a roll mast will slide on their body shells for a long distance at great speed, and the body, in that situation, acts as a nice scoop to lift the car over the barriers.

At best, you are making it easy for your car to end up in another part of the track causing damage to your car and someone else's. At worst, it could end up in the spectator/pit area and hurt someone. From a safety aspect, a roll mast should be 150mm long minimum and used all the time. HTH :)
