is this car any good? can you still buy it? i've searched the net and nowhere sells it and if i go to the Schumacher site it just says this kit is not available at the moment!

It has been discontinued. Your best bet to get one is in a model shop which has one as old stock.
Wheter it is any good depends on who you talk to.
Most people would say that they are slow, ugly, heavy etc, but I guess those are the people who haven't driven one.
I race one in the BTCC and enjoy every second of it. I might not have the skills to get into the Stock A final (last year I spent most of my time in the Stock D!), but I still got a load of top 3 finishes with the Big 6.

shame! i'll see if i can get one :D
Garry
10-04-2004, 08:28 PM
And do the BTCC. :)
Have a word with Schumacher, maybe they have some left over?

i must admit i do like the idea of wandering around the country racing cars! :D but i have a feeling my full size car wouldn't even make it to the first event  g reg golf with 120k on the clock

Big 6 is the most fun you can have fully dressed, standing on a rostrum in front of a track. Congrats Richard on the win, well done. I think anyone watching the racing at Bedworth could not describe them as slow, especially the second final. Get one, and race it.

how is the racing done is it divided into stock and modified or is it just open?
It's 'open' - but you wouldn't do very well with a stock motor. You need a decent modified motor and some decent cells - or I suppose you could try brushless??
Thanks Mark - I'm not doing the next round at Aldershot but I'll be at Southend on May 30th. Looking forward to some more fun racing. :D
cheers,
Bish :)

Yes, it was fun.
Pity my day wasn't, no top-end power. :( Perfect through the corners though.
Hi guys,
Change of plan. I will be at Aldershot - see you BIG 6 racers there :) .

Got one :D can you get any other shells other than the elise? would the protech shells fit?
Charles King
27-04-2004, 07:29 PM
couple of other things what tyres can\do you use? any other suggestions for upgrades?
NumanR
27-04-2004, 07:51 PM
Ok, first upgrade must be the alloy motor mount, with this fitted it makes the gear mesh alot better and also transfers the motor heat into the chassis. Second is bin the kit tyres, the Schumacher racing slicks are the ones to use, they come with foam inserts, so no choices there to get wrong. A turnbuckle set is next on the list to adjust the camber and toe. Apart from shortening the shocks and fitting touring car springs thats about it. Oh yeah dont forget the modified motor, 13x2 is the one to use.
good luck
NumanR
27-04-2004, 07:52 PM
Nearly forgot, the only shell available is the lotus, and no the protech doesnt fit.
Charles King
27-04-2004, 08:03 PM
thanks as for the turnbuckles are the schumacher ones any good? or should i find some aftermarket titanium ones?
NumanR
27-04-2004, 08:04 PM

Charles,
Are you going to get the Big 6 ready for May 9th and bring it along to the BTCC at Aldershot, you should still be able to book for the Big 6 class.
Hope to see you there.
Garry
28-04-2004, 10:32 AM
I'm 90% sure that theres 3 places left for Aldershot.
If you haven't got the tyres, I'm sure Mark has some. :)
Charles,
If you bought Dave Treacy's BIG6 then you should have some of the racing slick tyres. If not, then I have some that you could use if you are going to Aldershot.
Cheers,
Bish

I did get Dave's Big 6 but the tyres are a bit tired. as for aldershot i don't think i'll be able to make (but i'll try :D )it but i am however intending on racing it eventually!

and can someone tell me the part number for the ally motor mount? I had a look at the schumacher site but the closest i could find was Alloy Diff Half, pair - Big 6 Nitro & E.P or Motor Heatsink - BIG 6 E.P
NumanR
28-04-2004, 08:40 PM
Its the motor heatsink, part number U2363E.
See you at Aldershot.
Garry
28-04-2004, 08:40 PM
The motor heatsink is the right one - its a purple alloy L-shape that sits under the motor and you use it to mount the motor with.

Thanks for all your help guys! As for Aldershot i will see if i can make it but it's not very hopeful :( !

Even if you can't race it, it'll be worthwhile for setup tips.

Just thought I would let everyone know NNMRC had another testing session at Snetterton today. Unfortunately the fifth scale cars were out and interrupting us. Now I have nearly always been able to beat nitro cars at Snetty with the electric Big6, so when the big cars came out I thought it was my duty to try them out. My car went out and blasted them, couldnt beat them on the straight but on the infield no contest. Incidentally lap times were a tenth of a second slower than a stock mission. Who dares to say Big 6 is slow? Bring em on! :D

Hello, i would like to know how much you think i could get a second hand big 6 from, as in the futur im planning on buying one, also, how long do you think they will be around, as they have been discontinued havnt they?
Garry
05-05-2004, 05:16 PM
£100 or so rolling chassis. See if Mark G has one. ;)
Martin P
05-05-2004, 05:20 PM
really? i though they were 110 brand new, i thought it would be quite abit cheaper  better start saving those pennys then  :(
Garry
05-05-2004, 05:37 PM
Well, the tyres and wheels cost £45-55! They last forever though.
Charles King
05-05-2004, 06:35 PM
I paid £95 (inc P&P) for mine 2nd hand and that has the racing slicks with it
Martin P

Well, the tyres and wheels cost £45-55! They last forever though.
  To be honest, i think that has put me off buying one, and when you save forever, how long on average would you expect them to last if you race once every week??
Charles King
05-05-2004, 09:45 PM
the bloke i bought mine said his tyres had done 40 events and they aren't too bad!
NumanR
05-05-2004, 09:46 PM
You can get a used electric big 6 on ebay, the last three I saw went for £70 pound each but they were standard cars. The guy who came second in the Schumacher BTCC 2003 ran a set of tyres for the entire season, I didn't! I can see these cars being highly collectable as there just isn't anything like them. Treat yourself. :D
Martin P
05-05-2004, 09:50 PM
40 events  Now thats whaat im talking about, i think i have just been reinterested in the big 6, just got to get the money to buy one now, day one, i have 6 quid, nearly there ;) :D :D
Garry
06-05-2004, 10:14 AM
I used a set last year, and have a new set for this season, so thats 2 sets in 2 years. But I might use a set on a Nitro Big 6 if I can find a cheap enough one.

Haven't you got a spare chassis too?
Loan it to Martin for a meeting - see if he like it. :)
NumanR
07-05-2004, 07:49 PM
I have two spare chassis but they are stripped for spares, I could probably build one up but not in time for Aldershot.
Hi BIG6ers,
MK will be running BIG6s this weekend (Sunday 23/5/04) if anyone feels like coming along.

Ditto again Garry, just finished rebuilding Belinda's diff tonight. All is OK now but sadly Richard, we will not be able to make MK this weekend either. The scrap will have to wait until Southend.
