Hi,
I am totally new to off road. Just got the ansmann mad rat and building it up. Any advice on shocks esp oil weight. Assuming off-road grass with jumps what is best? assuming indoor circuit?
Thanks

I always thought / was told that the Mad-rat was a carbon copy of the original Associated B4 - best solution in that case is try to find a B4 setting guide or set-up sheets & go from there.
Would try something along the lines of 35wt oil in the front and 30 wt in the rear.
It does depend on the pistons and springs to, but as a rough guide the above won't be far out. If you find you have to much steering you can go up to 40wt in the front and if it's really bumpy drop to 25wt in the rear.
The best advice I can offer is to make sure that when you compress the car (race ready) from the centre where the battery goes the front and rear raise up at the same rate, this way when you hit a bump the car should end up kicking up the front more than the rear or vice versa.
We tend to use the same oil for racing indoors and out, and generally change tires to suit the conditions
