Hi,

Ive used lots of different tyres for on carpet.

In my opinion the Nosram VTEC 27 give best grip but there tyre life isnt too good i used these throughout the winter series at stocksbridge.

Sorex 28r are good too they give wear a little bit better than vtec's too.

Xenon's 28 are good value for money but i have had a couple of wheels break though.

You wont go far wrong with them.

Hope this helps.

24R They should grip well Robby ? but may not last so long, your car doesn't look too bad round the track .

I will probably be trying some Sorex 28R after running tyres that were worn through to the inserts at the last meeting, oops :p

I understand Mr Allen runs 32R tyres which should last ages and ages  but need warmers too

yes peter you are right i use sweep 32 with loads of additive but no warmers, must admit not the best grip but last ages , sorex 28 out of all the tyres i have run are the best but dont last long .for me 24 are way two soft and will overheat rapid

Ye 24's are definately too soft they would overheat part way through your race.

i used some Rp30's last meet and they overheated in the last half of the final and caused the car to flip a couple of times, are these tyres soft or hard? i was using LRP additive and warmers. would it be an idea to stick with these tyres and use either additive or warmers?

thanks for any help guys.

those tyres are hard compared with sorex or sweep, dont use warmers just additive and dont put as much or if any on later in the meeting.i found when using warmers indoors made the car very poor so just use additive

I would suggest just running tyre additive on its own for carpet that will probably solve the grip roll depends on the car set up too though.

at the min my yokomo bd is set up for a high grip carpet track, i found the set up sheet on the net. i still need to tweek it a bit to my driving style tho as i didnt have much on power steering (suffered from understeer when i was accelerating on the sweeping corners) but had loads of off power steering.

What do the temps refer to? is it track/ambient temp or temp range of tyre after use?

BTW... F to C conversion... e.g. 150F... 150-32x5/9
150-32=118
118x5=590
590/9=65.5
=65.5C

150 - 30 = 120
120/2=60

close enough and a bit quicker if like me you rubbish a numbers ;)

And the numbers are the aprox track temp operating range
