Hiya.Im looking into buying a lipo for racing with. Will be running 10.5 so dont need to have mega capacity.

All Id like to know is
What manufacturer Lipo do you use ?
Do you use a balance lead always, and again manufacturer ?
What capacity Lipo are you running and what spec motor (13.5/10.5 etc) ?

thanks loads for your help

Trakpower 4900
Orion 3800
Demon 5000
SMC 1S 4000
Always use a balancer (Trakpower)

I run 6.5 in TC (first 3)
and 10.5 in 12th (last one)

Hi John

You finaly going to start up again? ;)

Thunder Power 5000
Homemade balance lead
Various 10.5 motors

Try to balance every charge but if pushed for time wont bother on race days.
Always balance charge the day before and leave them as they are after they have done a race for storage.

LRP 5300 28C
Pulsar 3 charger
Trackpower v-balancer
10.5t Pro Stock

Ive managed on one battery now for over 3 months, charging at 5.3amps after a 5minute run takes around 30minutes to properly balance the lipo which is just about right for a decent turn around time.

There is a new LRP 40C just on the market now, which can be charged at a massive 3C (15.9amps!)

Most designated lipo chargers that i am aware of only charge upto 5amps, so the pulsar 3 is kind of future proof as it charges upto 10amps. The down side compared to these smaller chargers is the price and it needs an external balancer, but never the less its a top charger.

Hope this helps

handy as I already have a pulsar 3

Guys, thanks for the info, so basically a lipo around the 4900 mark, and a balancer in the done thing.

Sweet....ta!

i run 13.5t at rug racers, with 3600 30c trackpower, also 3800 30c team orion. charged at 5a on a core rc chager.
on race day/night i dont bother balance charging, but i do balance charge them a day or two before racing. ive balance charged the lipos a week and a half before racing, and havent noticed any difference in performance to when ive charged them just before use.
two packs is enough in 13.5 or 10.5 to easily get you through the day.
