Hi all,
I have heard rumours that the National series next year will be Brushless only, if this is likely to happen what system is recommended. I would also like to consider racing brushless as the initial cost will hopefully be recouped in motors costs and less maintenance. Cheers Matt.

Matt,
as it stands brushless for 2009 is a 'trial' basis which was agreed at the BRCA AGM. Through seeing the cars at various club meets and the medway national, it does look like brusless is the way to go. It is an advance it technology and removes the need to clean the motors. To a adegree it can also level out the playing field.
When you ask about make and model this si where it becomes interesting, as brushless is a trial for this season the goverance around it is still to be confirmed and or tightned and has been the source of much debate on the chat sites. So choosing wich system maybe a hit or miss selection depending on the rules chosen at the next AGM. That said there are many people who have gone for the Mardave system that has been developed with Mtroniks, or you could plum for an EZ system that some of the other clubs use.
On a personal note, I am very much looking forward to the introduction of brushless and I am very sure that this will be taken on as a forumla at HOTs for next year. It would also be a very good idea to have a couple of race nights that have a non-championship scoring brushless round. This way we can see what they are like around a large oval. It would also serve as an oppurtunity to get the set-up spot on for the next season.
Hope this helps - in short, look to the mardave system as a base but consider that you could mix and match, also remember that as of yet the final goverance has not yet been set at BRCA level for next year.

I have seen a few EZ systems but didnt know what would applicable to oval racing but they seem very comprehensive and half the price of the mardave system and are complete with motor and fan

I wouldn't spend you're money untill next year's rules have been set. I can see this class going with a control system "mardave brushless system" Although I would like to see it slightly more open than that.
A motor rating and RRP price and not pin the class to one system.
But anyway, Let's not start a brushless debate again. Keep you're money in your pocket till next year Matt.

the tamiya system is quite a good match for the car.
3160kw pv. (approx 19,000 rpm on a 4 cell)
only downside seems to be the set up by pressing a sequence on the ecs. No where as easy as the Losi style card.
Maybe a good solution would be single cell lipo and brushless system.

orion Vortex is a great ESC, good price there as well.
maybe consider changing the fan for a larger one to assist heat disipation.
