Hi all

Just built a T1R and upon setting it up Ive found that the of the chassis appears to be twisted. When I set the droop up, the amount of screw protruding from the top of the arm is uneven each side by at least a couple of mm.When you look at XRay set-ups they seem to set the downstops by the amount the screw sticks up above the wishbone. This is only on the rear so does this mean the chassis is twisted even though it hasnt been run yet :'(

thanks
Tim

Hello, Welcome to the wonderful world of Xray. To get rid of that tweak undo all the screws that go into the bulkheads(under the chassis, topdeck and shock towers) then retighten them but before they are fully tight make sure the chassis is flat. Once you've done that nip all the screws up and hey presto no tweak!
Hope this helps

The first question to ask is, did you use the same length screww on both sides..?

A difference of a few millimeters would mean about five millimeter or more at the wheel and I cannot believe that even with screw induced tweek you would get that much of a difference.

1. As said above it could be comming from chassis tweak.

2. It could be from having the mountings fitted incorectly, double check your using the same mounting holes on the bulkheads on borh sides. When you you change pivot points it throws your droop out and it will need reset.

3. You dont say how you are checking your tweek, or your droop.

Tweek isnt set using the droop screws, it is corrected with the spring collars.

Ill check the screw length but im pretty sure they're the same.
The screws are about 1 mm out from each other. Should they be exactly equal?

Thanks

Yor chassis isnt twisted as much as that. It has to be something simple such as wrong screw or using the wrong hole for the mounting...

I have just measured the screw lenghts and 1 is 0.22mm longer than the other but I dont think it would make enough difference.
Im checking the droop using a Hudy kit.
The chassis actually seems ok when I set the down screws to the same height above the wish bone the droop is 2mm out on the right hand rear

:).

Totaly agree with Robfro. had the same problem. Took me and my mate who is the dogs dangle on chassis about an hour to find. Now perfect.

After every meeting i take the top deck off and screw it back on while i get someone to puch both ends down flat on the worktop. Try that because mines perfect after about 2 and a half year.

I do the same thing as john stones describes sometimes, need to be sooo careful when putting these screws in not to tighten one more than the other.
Its a pain when one of these screws fall out after taking the time to get rid of tweak aint it, And then you wonder why the car felt pish on track, but realise that it was down to a screw.

Well, I must be lucky then. I just throw my car together and I never get any measurable amount of tweek in the car.

If the droop screws are done right and the shocks are built well, I have yet to see any tweek on the chassis. I dont believe it is an issue. I cant see how a screw falling out will make any difference that we mortals would notice. Could be wrong.

Mind though, I do have an EVO1 and not the TiR, so it may not be the same for all.
