View Full Version : So - whats happening ?
Hiya. Been out of racing for a while now, still got my S400 and lan on just club racing for a while until I find a job. Once im financially viable again i'll start doing some championships.
So, whats happening with the S400 these days ? Last I heard alot of the team that was in place when I was racing under Serpent UK have moved on. Who's the team drivers now and how is the car doing ? Has there been any major changes to the car at all ?
Mine is still at the team spec of the 2008 Winter series with the cut up top deck and using spacers under the pivot blocks...anything else been hacked / changed / butchered ?
Catch you all at some point I hope !
So...im guessing that there isnt much of a team anymore then ?

That may have to do with it being hard to get parts for this car. Some parts are out of stock for months. I have one and i like the car but i sure hope Serpent fixes this sooner than later.

Hi John. There are still plenty of people racing the S400 but less at nationals. It would be myself that spearheads the current team but obviously with 1/8 scale commitments I cant be at many of the nationals (which the majority clash unlike last year). Expecting to be at it again later in the year. Matthew Cook is having great success with his car as are a few other good drivers.

Yes i would like to push how well Matt cook has done this year with his S400 by winning British indoor winter series 19t/10.5 championship! as we had 3 serpent team drivers at one stag but them moving to different company's. now at my local club its just Matt :(
But really not going to be many Touring Car Team drivers as there no development in new car.
But hope Team Serpent (Touring) Team hold out and keep plugging away.
thanks
Matt

Not strictly true :)
Well im ex serpent-uk team having retired for the last year or so from the sport. I found it hard to get the right setup in the car and wondered what any of you guys have changed ?
I was regularly hitting A finals outdoors, but not toping them, and indoor I simply found the car hard to setup as it either didnt turn in or caused the rear tyres to heat up and flake out around 3.5-4 minutes. I gave it to a few different drivers and all found it a handfull.
So...any chance of an update on all the team changes on their cars, perhaps a few setup sheets ?

John its been a long time! how have you been?
Im still running the S400 and its going quite well. Had some good results at the BTCC making both A finals so far.
Setup wise I have more or less gone back to the kit setup but with spacers under the rear pivot blocks. and the geared diff.
hope to see you racing again soon mate.
Hi James, glad to see you about. I'll have to try and get to a meet you'll be at soon mate.

hi jo90
i along with 3 other members at my local club run the serpent still and we have made a large developement one ten racing do i lipo conversion top deck which works extremley well with the standard chassis but then they went even further and designed a lipo chassis for the car i run this along with the other lads and we have found it to work extremley well outdoors haven't tried it indoors but the car driven by ashley finch won last years slccup championship in stock and is currently in 2nd in pro stock after the 2nd round of this years series. the chassis itself has a recess in the bottom for lead weight so gives an exellent centre of gravity. i finished 3rd overall in pro stock with it at the 1st round of the btcc this year all be it was my home track but i'm not the best behind the sticks check it out it's called the tfracing lipo chassis
