I seem to remember back in the early to mid nineties Tamiya released a Team Tamiya only off road buggy, successor to the Top Force Evo cars they had been using, it sank without trace. I believe it was called the TRF 401X. Anyone know what happened to it? ???

The car evolved into the 411X raced in latter 1993. I believe the transmission was the basis for the belt drive TA-04 and TRF 414 fore runners.
The off road car was due to be released in basic form as the 'Neo Shot' with fully enclosed twin belt transmission and mainly plastic/nylon parts rather than carbon or FRP. I think there was a good deal of interest, but Tamiya withdrew it - who knows why? They withdrew the Schlesser buggy too, when other manufacturers still released it - it is strange when the car gets the full Tamiya treatment, goes to all the shows and fairs and then gets shelved - very weird. Where are the original TRF off road cars now, who knows? there's probably only a few handful around the world.

One major point I missed was, as far as I know the 401X/411X was never released as such to the general public. It was only available to the factory drivers, that's why not many were seen.
