Hi guys, My name is Richard Bland and I work for Schuie... I have a problem and forgot to ask the guys at work today and I need an answer asap!!!
With these cheap £35 cells, it says on teh instructions not to solder directly onto the cell, welll that sounds a bit stupid to me and so I tried anyway.... However whilst I am sitting here trying, the damm solder just wont stick to these cells!!! I have a meeting tomorrow and need these cells to solder together... does anyone have any suggestions....
PLEASE HELP ME ASAP!!!

Best way is to get a knife and scratch the surface you are going to solder too (criss-cross) and make sure you have a very good soldering iron.,

No problem soldering to cells. BUT you must clean the terminals up with a little wet & drt to give abit of a key for the solder. Also you need a hot iron with a big tip so that the solder melts straight away and you don't get the cells hot.

Like others have said, key the surface first, then tin your soldering iron (bit of solder on the end). Put soldering iron tip on the cell, wait 1/2 a sec till you see solder beging to run, then add a little more solder from the side. That should work if you got a hot enough iron (at least 50W with a big tip).

Most important point here methinks is the power of the iron - you need the battery surface to get hot, locally, quickly - a low wattage iron might be fine for soldering wires, deans plugs etc but yeah 40-50W is where you wanna be ... if u use a weak iron the cell just soaks up the heat and is likely to damage the cell. Oh and the tip re roughing the surface is spot on too...
Cheers
Mick
